I can fully believe documentation is important and still not want to be doing it. Both can be true. Notes are a necessary part of the work, but that doesn’t mean they’re the most enjoyable part.

Therapist me trying to ask a clarifying question… and accidentally hitting a nerve 😅

Especially early on, a lot of therapy involves asking questions to better understand what’s going on. That process includes some level of guessing while we get to know you, your experiences, and what matters to you.

Therapist me trying to keep track of a story with no names 😅

Therapy is confidential. What you share stays in session, outside of specific legal and safety exceptions like mandated reporting. I’m not calling anyone, and you don’t have to filter or generalize to protect other people in the story.

Using names can actually make things clearer and help us stay focused on what’s important. When we’re talking about your brother-in-law’s sister who dated your cousin… I’m doing my best, but names help 😂
