In Wichita's warm August light,
A soul was born to shine so bright.
Jacquelyn Christine, seventy-seven years,
A life of love, through joys and tears.
From Kansas plains to Virginia’s home,
Her heart found roots where she would roam.
A servant’s spirit, steadfast and true,
With every task, she saw it through.
A head secretary, calm and wise,
Her office chair retired with gentle sighs.
Her work was done, her mission clear,
She carried kindness year to year.
On a blind date, fate gently stirred,
A love that bloomed without a word.
Virgil, her partner, friend, and guide,
Together, walking side by side.
Fifty-eight years, ten months they shared,
In every moment, deeply cared.
No fishing lines, no rivers crossed,
But in her love, no time was lost.
Seven Great Danes, her faithful crew,
Horses and Eeyore’s gentle hue.
Animals who felt her tender heart,
Her love for them, a work of art.
Though dementia’s shadow came to play,
Her spirit laughed, her jokes would stay.
“Don’t make me come and kick your A,”
A spark that brightened every day.
She loved her soda, sweet and clear,
A simple joy held close and dear.
A wife, a mother, grandmother, too,
A heart so vast, so warm, so true.
Now gently resting, peace has found,
Her memory in hearts will sound.
Jacquelyn Christine, forever near,
A life well-loved, a soul sincere.
Though words can never quite convey
The love that fills the ones who stay,
Her family knows and always will,
Her spirit lives, enduring still.
