Today, is Giving Tuesday. It is always the Tuesday following all the seasonal shopping craze. This year especially, please consider donating and helping your community.

I am sharing one today, that is actually very close to what I do as a bookkeeper...financials. As a youth, many do not learn how to manage money and how it greatly impacts their lives. This organization teaches youth in a method that is interactive, fun and actionable.

Talking about money has never been an easy subject for most families. If we don’t talk about it, how do we learn and teach our youth not to make our mistakes? There is no magic. It takes time. And commitment.

Making the direct connection between personal and financial well-being is critical. We need to understand and manage both.

If you’re serious about your health, and that means your immune system, you must create a plan to reduce stress. Many people know they need to de-stress but have no idea how to do it!!

Studies have shown that listening to your favorite music releases both serotonin and oxytocin (the feel-good chemicals). But don’t just listen - I’m challenging you to sing it! Loudly! With the windows down! And hey why not entertain fellow drivers on the road??! When you pull up to a light - really make it a performance?!

It is said a picture is worth a thousand words. My book comes out on Tuesday. Knowing that many people will likely read the personal story I share and then search my IG to find the photo I write about in the first chapter, I decided to post it for you instead. The fact is.....photos, like the one you see on the left, have all been removed from my feed about 3 years ago when I started on this journey.
I removed those photos and all the others that I felt might trigger or mislead people into believing that HEALTH has something to do with showing lots of skin or ab definition. While I know many people find those kind of photos motivational - there’s enough of that on social. I’ll find other ways to help motivate people.
When it comes to selling fitness, let’s face it - a super lean ripped, often unachievable body image is what sells. That’s where the paradox lies. For me, the pursuit of this “image” did a number on my head, my brain health, my hormones and my health. It left me questioning if I was really helping people? The girl on the left believed she would never be fit enough, lean enough - just not enough. The girl on the right knows better. That’s me today. Today I am healthy.
The girl on the left was exercising for for hours upon hours every day, living on diet soda, calorie free and low fat processed fake foods. Afraid to eat real food. I desperately wanted to help women feel good about their bodies and find health and happiness. Yet I got so swept up in the industry that I never stopped to truly investigate what it really meant to be healthy. I was focused on what health “looked like”.
The picture of health isn’t captured in a picture at all. When I posted the photo on the left, I was in the worst health of my life. I was running on empty, malnourished, wired and tired and I was an emotional wreck. Yet, the praise poured in. “What program are you doing?” “You look amazing!““Wow! I want your body!“
What I was doing was destroying me yet I was being praised and rewarded.
It’s scary.

🚨 Newsflash: You can say, “no thank you” to people, situations, partnerships and practices that compromise your worth and or make you feel less than.

If you’re not happy - make some changes. But don’t you dare allow another person or situation to make you feel like you’re not good enough. Never knowingly compromise what you believe in for a paycheck, opportunity, acceptance or just to please some power tripper.

When you allow someone to have negative influence over the way you think, feel, behave or treat yourself, you give them power over your life. Doing so is like willfully handing over the mental, emotional and physical strength that rightfully belongs to you.

Sometimes, it's obvious when you’re giving up your power. Losing your cool, doubting yourself, doing and saying things you don’t believe in, limiting yourself or worrying about pleasing an a-hole ...all prime examples!!

Allowing someone or some thing to make you feel bad is a choice. It takes courage and determination to make a change. Take action. Don’t align with people, practices, businesses, friends, social media, hobbies or careers that leave you feeling less than. You have too much greatness within you. Crawl, walk, run. Just Move. Then start a movement! That’s what I did and I’d love to have you jump in the passenger’s seat. Shoot - you can drive if ya want. But we’re doing this! Hit me with a fist 👊🏼 if you got this!

Proper Push-up Alignment: Let’s start at the top and work our way down. A common mistake is the placement or alignment of your head neck.
When most people are learning to do a push-up, they compensate for weakness, by forcing the forward and down in a Subconscious effort to make the push up easier.

This bad habit can stay with you long after you have created the strength to master your push-ups. I find that very few people are aware of their farm until they photographed or videotaped themselves doing a push-up.

I challenge to do a self-check. Take a video of you from a low angle and analyze what you’re doing with your head and neck. Leave a comment and let me know what you find!

Regardless of the exercise, you’ll get more from it when you modify to ensure proper form! Even if you have the strength, retrain yourself to use proper alignment! Drop to your knees, pull your head up, without looking up. Instead, keep the head in neutral, looking out about three to five inches in front of your finger tips. Helpful?
