Fall back 🥱
⏰ The most dreaded time change with babies and young children, but it doesn’t have to be!
Here are some tips to follow to ease into the time change to keep baby on schedule as best as possible
Since we go to sleep an hour later than what our body’s internal clock is used to, you should put baby to bed 10-15 minutes later (including naps too) each day leading up to the time change.
By the time the time change happens, they’ll be just about adjusted to going to sleep later and on track with the new time
Example of a schedule for a child that typically has a 7pm bedtime (follow for their nap schedule as well):
Day 1: 7pm
Day 2: 7:15pm
Day 3: 7:30pm
Day 4: 7:45pm
Day 5: 8:00pm
*on the night when the clocks go back, 8pm will now be 7pm
Although you will have helped your child to adjust as best as you can, it can still take up to a week for baby to fully adjust.
Helpful tips:
🖤black out shades in your child’s room
❤️ give your child time and some grace to adjust. Even if you don’t follow these steps leading up to the time change, within a week of the time change they will adjust
