Exciting news! We were named a recipient of the 2026 Minnesota Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation - MOHR Choice Award for our Restaurant Ready program!

This award recognizes creative and innovative programs that make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities.

In partnership with Hospitality Minnesota, Restaurant Ready offers immersive, real‑world training experiences, such as meal service, concession stands, and catering‑style events, designed to prepare participants for success in hospitality careers. Program graduates have gone on to pursue competitive employment, secure jobs, or even launch their own microbusinesses!

We were honored to accept this award from MOHR President Robin Harkonen at our C**n Rapids Open House last week.

Thank you to everyone who plays a part in making this program possible!

Action Alert: Respond to Key Components of the Governor's Budget Proposal

Governor Walz’s proposed budget includes changes to DHS and Medicaid funding that could significantly impact disability services across Minnesota. These programs are critical to helping people with disabilities live full, active lives.

We’re asking our community to take a few minutes to contact your Minnesota State Senator and Representative and share how these proposed changes would affect you or someone in your life.

Click the link below to read the full action alert and send a message to your state legislators.

Rise team members Maria Schofield and Vanessa Barron had a great time representing Rise at the Special Olympics Minnesota Inclusive Career & Resource Fair!

The event offered a fun and welcoming atmosphere where attendees connected with inclusive employers, agencies, and community partners to learn about opportunities for employment, education, growth, and independence. Maria and Vanessa especially enjoyed the panel of professionals and learning alongside so many wonderful inclusive partners in attendance.

Congratulations to all the athletes who are participating in this summer's USA Games, including multiple athletes supported by Rise! 🏅👏

The "Spring into Art" event was a huge success! 🎨🌷

Maggie the Art Bus from Art Lab Rx rolled up to Rise Oakdale for a fun, hands‑on day of art!

People from our Oakdale, Forest Lake, and Cottage Grove life enrichment programs got creative making buttons, working on a mural, and exploring scribble boards together. 💛🚌

*This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the art and cultural heritage fund.*

Team members from Rise New Richmond recently attended Wisconsin's Disability Advocacy Day at the Capitol in Madison!

The day included marching with The Survival Coalition of Wisconsin Disability Organizations, meeting with legislators’ staff, and joining in meaningful conversations around transportation barriers, life enrichment program requirements, and caregiver burnout. They also connected with caregivers, advocates, and people with disabilities from across Wisconsin.

Thanks to the St. Croix Valley Foundation’s Nonprofit Capacity Building Grant Program for funding this advocacy work.
