Don't Be Impatient!!!
"Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 3:18)".
When people commit themselves to Christ, an immediate transformation of their personality takes place. The weakness of their character is replaced by strength, and an indescribable confidence fills their entire life. Becoming a born-again Christians can indeed be a joyous experience. Bur with the passage of time the wonder and enthusiasm of this initial phase sometimes abates, and the spirit that was once aflame for Christ starts to wane. Unfortunately this is not an uncommon occurrence among relatively new Christians.
When one surrenders oneself completely to Christ, one becomes a new creation, but old habits die hard. Even though the freshness of Christianity is a glorious reality to new Christians, they are still infants in Christ, and in the process of growing old habits may easily make their influence felt once again. Therefore it is imperative that the young Christian begins the process of growth immediately after his conversion to Christ. The excitement of conversion, which is undoubtedly a legitimate spiritual experience, should be strengthened by the foundation of Bible study, prayer, and communion.
Without worship, prayer and Bible study there can be no growth. If a piece of coal is removed from the fire it cannot retain its heat. It is God's desire that you will grow spiritually, but the responsibility to actually do so, belongs to you.
"Thank You, Lord Jesus, for starting me in my Christian pilgrimage. With Your help I am determined to work hard at my growth and development".
Spiritual maturity is not achieved by reason, but by submitting yourself to the will of God ~D.W. Lambert~
