A modern therapeutic approach for children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
*Now accepting Referrals for New Patients*
(HSTSLLC does not diagnose or prescribe medications) In my time in Pediatrics, I realized that typical therapists & therapeutic environments were not giving the patients room to be themselves. I believe that teaching and healing are most effective in an engaging and comforting
environment. The sterile feeling of average offices can be a barrier to expression. Having children of my own who have been in therapy, I realized that the providers who could relate to my child on their level, achieved the most. But the constant turnover and change, causes all of the progress to restart. At High Score, I am dedicated to being just what your child needs. I pride myself in being able to use pop-culture, video games, and social media to relate and intervene therapeutically. Technology is a huge part of our society and asking our children not to use it can be difficult. This can also cause outbursts of anger and rebellion. We as adults should try to meet them in the middle. We can bond with our children and help them through difficult times by being able to conversate with them about their interests. I can use their interests to show them how to cope, problem solve, and prepare. High Score will even assist patients in learning how to deal with difficult social situations. About Me:
I have been working with children since the age of 16. I was an afterschool childcare worker for the YMCA. Throughout college, I worked for a nannying agency. I attended Florida State University and double majored in Social Work / Family & Child Sciences with a minor in Psychology. After graduation, I worked at the Department of Children and Families in Jacksonville, Florida. When my time at DCF ended, I moved on to Children's Home Society as a Parent Educator and Supervised Visitation Specialist. I was promoted to an Adoption Case Manager in Gainesville, Florida. At that time I decided to obtain my Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from FSU. I then spent time in the UFHealth's Pediatric Pulmonary Unit. I was able to work along side the Streetlight program and experience palliative care in the pediatric unit. After leaving the Pulmonary Unit, I landed at North Central Early Steps as an Infant and Toddler Developmental Specialist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Shands. Around this time I obtained my Masters degree in Developmental Disabilities with a Child Life focus (MSDD) from Nova Southeastern University. My most recent experience has been at the UFHealth Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment. I am currently in the process of obtaining my clinical licensure (LCSW). I have a wonderful husband, five amazing step-children (Ages 22, 19, 17, 12, & 12), and one awesome 9 year old son. They have given me the support needed to go after my dream, which is High Score Therapeutic Services. My passion has been and will always be the wellbeing of every single child I serve.
*Please be aware that High Score Therapeutic Services LLC is temporarily self-pay only. In a short time, I will be able to accept almost any insurance provider. I understand times are tough and am willing to negotiate as long as your child is appropriate for my practice. Accepting provider referrals & self-referrals at this time (Please see forms).
