Doula tip today: essentials oils are commonly found in a doula bag. We carry these for many reasons here are just a few; peppermint oil helps with nausea, orange and geranium together rubbed on an aching muscle or crampy back can bring pain relief, lavender, rose or camomile help with anxiety and Cleary Sage may help keep labor going. I personally love a lemon-lavender blend to mist the labor space with when the room needs fresh air. A room not smelling bad to a laboring mother can be a big deal for her comfort when so many discomforts are out of her control.

It’s amazing how such a simple act of self-hospitality can be a reset in labor. Brushing your teeth, washing your face, getting clean socks… all meet the need in us to be able to feel like we are able to meet our own needs.
