The American Cancer Society reports that colorectal cancer is becoming more common in adults under age 50 and is the leading cancer killer of adults in this age group. To reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, experts recommend maintaining a healthy weight, getting regular exercise, reducing intake of red or processed meat, not smoking, avoiding excessive alcohol use, and attending screenings starting at age 45 or younger for those with a family history of the disease.
