This week Elora shares with us her recommended book of the week: Home Body by Rupi Kaur

"The book is a feminist poetry book that in four parts, walks you through the author’s journey of reconnecting her mind and body in adulthood after experiencing sexual abuse at a young age. The four parts are titled “mind”, “heart”, “rest”, and “awake”. They take the audience from “mind”, where Kaur depicts her deep depression, to “heart”, where we read about her experiences with abuse and heartbreak, to self love and learning to love and reconnect to her body. “Rest” is about the author finding self compassion and understanding not just within herself but within society. Until finally we reach “awake”, the beautiful finale of the book displaying her strength, growth, confidence, and anger towards those who have hurt her."

It’s a feminist poetry book that in four parts, walks you through the author’s journey of reconnecting her mind and body in adulthood after experiencing sexual abuse at a young age. Until finally we reach “awake”, the beautiful finale of the book displaying her strength, growth, confidence, and anger to those who are at fault for her trauma.
