Hello! I have another Therapy Group starting soon. This one is 'Recovering from Narcissistic Relationships'. I have run this group 7 times, and the topic (hard as it is!) has been my most requested therapy group. Each has been unique and wonderful! Strong friendships are still in place years later, people feeling seen, heard, and understood after years of feeling isolated, connections and support that last long after each group has ended.

This group is for those looking to heal from the effects of relationships that involved narcissistic behavior. For some of you, these wounds are from many years ago; for others, they are ongoing in current relationships. These relationships leave us in pain, with low self-worth, confused, isolated, misunderstood, angry, and often wishing to disappear. Feeling supported by others is an integral part of healing from narcissism.

If you have been in a narcissistic, abusive, or controlling relationship, your boundaries were likely not respected. Regaining your autonomy and learning to set boundaries are essential for healing. You will never be put on the spot or obligated to speak. We all have days when just showing up and listening is as much as we can do!

I truly love group therapy and would be delighted for you to join us if this group resonates with you!

ANXIETY GROUP
Call: 352-577-2313 or Email juliemcginley@mind-body-therapy.com

We often mistakenly believe that anxiety is just "the way I am." However, anxiety develops from challenging past experiences and won't heal on its own or simply with time. If you experience anxiety, you know how it can impact all areas of your life and may feel debilitating.

Many therapies focus on controlling anxiety through mental techniques and attempting to change thought patterns. While this can be somewhat effective, it is rarely enough. Anxious thinking is not the root cause of the problem - it is the result of turmoil inside of us. This therapy group will help you understand the deeper origins of your anxiety by identifying your internal alarms and the painful feelings that drive excessive worry, spiraling thoughts, fears, and self-blame.

WHY CONSIDER GROUP THERAPY?

You might be wondering why group therapy is beneficial, especially if you're already in individual therapy. When your past wounds stem from relationships—whether from childhood, your teen years, adult friendships, work, marriage, or other romantic connections—healing through relationships is crucial. Group therapy provides a safe and trusting environment where you can be witnessed and supported by others, leading to deeper healing.

If the idea of group therapy sounds overwhelming, please know that is true for most of us. You are not alone! By the end of the first session, you will have moved through most of this discomfort and made valuable connections that may last far beyond our 8 sessions together. Yes, it takes courage to show up, but groups offer a unique opportunity to feel validated by those who have shared similar experiences.

Together, we will grow in wisdom, heal within a supportive community, and become more resilient. Everyone in these groups has navigated difficult life experiences, and we truly need each other. I encourage you to give it a chance!

Life is incredibly difficult sometimes. If you have experienced situations or periods in your life that overwhelmed your mind and body, you may have been unable to process what happened. Whether these experiences were recent or in the distant past, you may continue experiencing the distress and symptoms.

Let’s face it – the demands of our lives don’t stop while we try to heal! If you’ve been struggling for a long time, you’ve likely developed effective coping mechanisms. Your brain has an amazing ability to create adaptive “strategies” to keep you functioning. Coping might involve turning to alcohol or other substances by the end of the day, working excessively, finding ways to numb or detach, isolating from others, sleeping too much or too little, sexual addictions, aggression, or other strategies. Although these coping strategies may now cause problems in your life, your brain and nervous system are working as designed – to keep you surviving!

Despite finding ways to continue functioning, your distress may remain just below the surface in short-term memory and stored in your body – influencing your life, shaping your decisions, forming your reactions, and causing symptoms that interfere with the way you want to live. You may also be experiencing physical symptoms like autoimmune disorders or other chronic illnesses, fatigue, digestion issues, skin problems, or chronic pain.

When Coping Is No Longer Enough…It Is Time to Heal

Through genuine connection with someone you can trust, you will find hope and healing. Counseling is difficult work at times, but I am here to walk alongside you in the journey as a safe and caring witness to your story. You may be hurt, but you are not broken. Together, we will work to increase your self-awareness and insight into why you react, respond, behave, and feel the way you do. You will learn to embrace your vulnerability, allowing your mind and body to move through your shifting emotions.

You Are In Control of This Process.

Working at a pace that is ideal for your unique healing journey, I am here to show you that hope and freedom is waiting for you. You may be frustrated with your life choices … feeling unworthy … overwhelmed … anxious … stuck … fearful … struggling with grief…. Just know that your past patterns can change. Your beliefs about yourself can change. Your thoughts can stop spiraling. You can feel more in control and regulate your emotions. You can find freedom.

YOU ARE WORTH IT!
