On Friday Bailey had an appointment with Jason E. Blatt, MD! He is the brain surgeon who performed the surgery on Bailey in March at UF Shands Children’s Hospital to fully remove the brain tumor. Which the surgery then went amazing, he fully removed it and then even braided her hair around the incision after and took such good care of Bailey! The last visit when he learned Bailey likes to paint, he told her if she did a picture of a brain for him, he gets them framed for his office! So Bailey painted a brain for Dr. Blatt with a pink dot marker and then did the lines with a watercolor marker! She kept playing with Dr. Blatt with her ball the whole appointment lol she would have stayed and played with him all day! 🤣⚽️💕 He said Bailey looked great and her head healing looked great too! So we will see him again when we see her oncologist too around or the same day as her next MRI in August! We are so glad Bailey has the best doctors and care team!

Very grateful to my colleagues for election to the Society of Teaching Scholars - a group of about 50 faculty between Gainesville and Jacksonville who make teaching a central priority of their medical careers. Watching trainees grow is still one of the best parts of my job.❤️👨‍🎓🏅

Just moving my stuff into some new office furniture, but it provided a great opportunity to reflect on how meaningful pediatric neurosurgical care is to our patients and their families. ❤️ And yes, that mug does say "Yoda Best Neurosurgeon." 😆

Honored by election to President of the Florida Neurosurgical Society today! Priorities for ‘22-23: Grow the number of appointed leadership positions as opportunities for FNS participation for all neurosurgeons, improve value of annual FNS meeting for private/employed colleagues outside academia, funding an annual award for med students to match the resident prize for top presentation, and membership of women & URMs. Lots to do but love a challenge!
