Once a year, our Director, Emily Marchi, creates a reflection to offer thanks to our volunteers, our patients, our team at UF Health, and the individuals in the community that make Streetlight possible. Not everyone likes reading a newsletter, so this Year-End Brief was written to the tune of a familiar holiday classic, “My Favorite Things,” and performed by two of our volunteers, Loré Morgan and Magnus Darrington, and featured in this video created by our new Patient Gaming Technology Specialist, Hunter Ross!

Congrats Bailey! 📚🎗️☀️
We celebrated Bailey’s bone marrow transplant journey with bookmarks, bejeweling, and books! After spending countless hours reading and yapping in the hospital, Bailey can now go back home cancer-free with memories of her UF Health family and new additions to her library donated by The Lynx Books!

Grateful to UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine for their support to lift up Zanaa's stories through a radio drama on their radio show, Shift Change Radio Hour 💗

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of 16-year-old Zanaa Queen, a remarkable young woman whose courage and creativity touched everyone at the Ronald McDonald House.

Just days before her passing, Zanaa’s greatest wish came true: her book, Three Short Stories, was published. This beautiful accomplishment stands as a lasting tribute to her strength, imagination, and resilience.

That’s a wrap on the Summer Games 🏅All summer long, we facilitated a campaign in our private Discord server to engage patients over shared gameplay and interests. We played Fortnite, Family Feud, Overcooked, Animal Crossing, and Jackbox Games together, while also encouraging patients to battle it out on four teams: Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue. Our GO Team Captains organized the prizes and wrote letters to all the competitors thanking them for a great Summer Games! ❤️💛💚💙 Shoutout Red Team for taking the gold 🥇

We got next 🏀 We had so much fun supporting The Open Court Project and the ’s Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program! Our Cancer Team was on the court and behind the concessions stand helping support all of those gathered to learn more about adaptive sports!🧑‍🦽‍➡️🏀

WELCOME TO MOES [i.e. Tommy’s End of Chemo Party] 🌮🎉🎗️
We loved celebrating Tommy and the end of his 2 1/2 year long cancer treatment. Tommy and his family gifted his team with his favorite post-anesthesia meal: ! We partied with tacos on tacos, lots of laughs and reminiscing, and Tommy’s dreams for the future 🪐 Congrats Tommy!
