Hi there! I’m Hannah O’Polka, a 31 year old mom to three crazy kiddos (ages 4, 6, and 8 years). Busy doesn’t even begin to cover the hats I wear. I have been with my spouse, Jason, for over a decade and married 9 years.
We keep busy with gardening, bodybuilding, outdoor activities, and family. We live in a little town an hour outside of any real shopping location in the middle of Iowa.
I began my journey to being healthier several years ago, when my oldest was 7 months old. I was noticing that I was tired all the time, short tempered, my self-esteem was at an all-time low and I just wasn’t showing up a great wife or mom. I would take my frustrations out on my husband and ultimately had a short breastfeeding relationship with my daughter because I didn’t have the patience or time to pump at my health care job. I hated how I felt. I hated how I looked. I loved my family, but something had to change. I turned to a friend who I knew was involved in a company that did in home fitness programs. Rachel had reached out to me several times in a four month period presenting the opportunity to jump start my health journey and work on my nutrition. We just couldn’t afford it. I couldn’t justify the time and certainly didn’t think I was in a position to be inspiring others. But I wanted to change. She sent me a dvd and the nutrition guide that came with it. I joined her online accountability group. I was inconsistent until I made the jump to start coaching myself and documented my food and fitness journey through Instagram and a private Facebook group. I treated my ‘business’ like a virtual diary sharing breadcrumbs of my story, my struggles, my non-scale victories, etc. I was mentoring others without realizing I was actually coaching them to succeed too.
It took me 3 months to see the physical side of change (I lost 19 pounds!), but internally and emotionally, I felt more alive and confident than I had felt in years. And people started to ask me for my help. What was I doing to look and feel healthier? What was I eating to lose weight and gain more energy, even though I was extremely busy and in the process of starting a new job, not to mention, house shopping.
