UTMBs McGovern Academy was endowed by Dr. McGovern to foster care as promulgated by Sir William Osler The John P.

McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine was founded to recognize physicians who provide highly compassionate care and to encourage the teaching and practice of such care to medical students. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine was created in 2001 and provides endowments to William Osler Scholars. The Academy also has student societies which foster compassionate, scientifically sound patient-centered care. Huge thank you to our Visiting Osler Scholar, Dr. Jeremy Greene, for an eye-opening talk on rethinking single-use plastics in healthcare 🌍🩺. Such an informative and thought-provoking session!

Osler Student Scholar, Madeline Pan, used her special project funds to give back to the fishing community 🌊❤️. During the November and December Docside Clinics, she helped assemble and distribute 50 winter care kits ❄️🧤 to support fishermen through the colder months.

✨ Perl Society Community Service Weekend = A Success! ✨

Huge thank you to our amazing Perl Coordinators for organizing such a meaningful event and bringing everyone together.

We had an incredible turnout on both days at Central United Methodist Church, assembling supplies on Saturday and teaming up with Street Medicine Interest Group on Sunday to support our community. ❤️

Grateful to Central Church for hosting us, to everyone who showed up ready to serve, and to our volunteers who make events like this possible.

🎃👻 What a Spooktacular Night! 👻🎃

A huge THANK YOU to the McGovern Academy Blocker Osler Student Society — especially our amazing Community Service Coordinators Hamid Koroni, Jun Park, and BOD Aiden Carroll — for organizing such a fantastic Halloween Carnival! 🧡

From music and fun games to sweet treats, a bounce house, and the dunk tank — the night was full of energy, laughter, and plenty of spooky spirit! 🎶🍬💃🕺

We’d also like to give a special shoutout to all the Osler Student Societies, UTMB Student Organizations ( ) the UTMB Police, and the Galveston Fire Department, as well as everyone working behind the scenes who helped make this event such a success. Your enthusiasm and teamwork made it a night to remember! 💙
