About Us

We are a statewide coalition of families, friends, providers and supporters of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are made up of nonprofit community providers, support services, advocacy organizations and more.

Those living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities are valuable and important citizens who have a right to the quality support and services they require. This includes support for everything from eating, bathing and assisting with medication to a job and life-skills training.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work directly with people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities with the goal of assisting the individual to become fully included in their community. These professionals are integral in supporting individuals with disabilities to live successfully in the community, avoid more costly institutional care, and enable Georgia to comply with the integration mandate of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

None of these services would exist without compassionate and committed direct support professionals (DSPs). DSPs are the lifeblood of community providers and they are heroes to families throughout the state. And yet these caregivers aren’t making a living wage, and these good workers are leaving jobs they love and people who need them just to make ends meet.
