This World Book Day, we’re celebrating all the ways people enjoy a good story.
Audiobooks make it easier than ever to ‘read’ on the go—but only if you’re hearing every word clearly.
If you’re turning the volume up more than usual, it might be time to check your hearing. And if you’re more of a page-turner, don’t forget—some of our offices have little lending libraries you can browse during your visit 📖

Do you think you know the truth about hearing loss? Think again. 👂

Hearing loss is surrounded by myths—and believing them can delay care that truly makes a difference.

Many people assume:
• “It only affects older adults”
• “If I can hear, I’m fine”
• “It’s not a big deal”

But the reality? Hearing loss can affect people of all ages, and even mild loss can impact communication, brain health, and overall well-being.

The good news: when hearing loss is identified and treated early, people stay more connected, more confident, and more engaged in everyday life.

👉 We’re breaking down the most common myths (and the facts you should know) in our latest blog:

🧠 What if healthy aging included your memory too?

New research from the NIH is showing that some older adults—known as “SuperAgers”—maintain sharp memory thanks to unique cellular activity in the brain. These individuals appear to have more newly formed brain cells and distinct patterns that support stronger cognitive function as they age.

While we can’t change everything about aging, this research reinforces something we know well: brain health and hearing health are closely connected. When hearing is left untreated, the brain has to work harder to process sound, which can place extra strain on memory and cognition over time.

The good news? Supporting your hearing is one important way to help support your overall brain health.

If you’ve noticed changes in your hearing, don’t wait—early evaluation can make a difference in staying connected, engaged, and sharp.

If you’ve ever struggled with hearing aid battery packaging recently, you’re not alone. Updates to packaging design stem from Reese’s Law (2021), which was created to improve child safety around button batteries. While the original packaging became more secure, it also made everyday use more difficult for many patients.

Now, manufacturers like Rayovac are rethinking that balance—introducing packaging that maintains safety standards while being easier to open and handle.

It’s a meaningful step forward: safer for families, more accessible for users. Hearing and vision don’t work in isolation—they work together.

When hearing changes, your brain has to compensate, often relying more on visual cues and extra effort to keep up. Over time, that can lead to fatigue and missed moments.

This recent article from Forbes does a great job explaining why both senses matter more than we think.
