Dear Friends, Family and Fans,
Thankful
October 2015, a beautiful young woman was determined to bring me into the social media world. She believed I had positively impacted her world when she met me as a 5th grade student in Roosevelt, NY. She wanted to help me to use media to expand my reach. She has prompted me to write over 500 posts during the last 9 years. She not only uploaded my posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter and my website www.mylindamichellebaron.com … but she would search out wonderful visuals to match my musings.

She is an author and accomplished speaker in her own right. So many of you have indicated how much you have appreciated my posts. Dear Friends, Family, and Fans,
In less than a week, Tuesday, November 5th,its time to VOTE!! Many of us have been bemoaning, groaning, stressing, obsessing, and depressing.
Now is the time to do something about it! Keep praying…for those of you who do. I know I do, and I am. I am aligning with my prayers.I am practicing what I preach. Stand up, get up for your rights. Walk your talk…to the polls. It looks like it’s gonna take a miracle to overcome the hate-filled, anti- Democracy behaviors of these times. We are the miracle. So, let us coalesce…walk together, children… with other miracle workers and: march, dance, jump, skip, hop, walk, wheelchair, walker, cane, crawl...to the polls and…by any means necessary…VOTE. Take others with you. This is your assignment…be in alignment, for a time such as this. Even if you are not yet documented…take those who are to the polls. To quote President Obama in his recent speech and probably everywhere else he has spoken, “Don’t boo, VOTE!!” Take your children with you so they can witness you …”being about it” rather then seeing you sitting at home, complaining about it.

Dear Friends, Family and Fans,

I just wanna testify that I am in no way tired. In some ways I'm too fired to be tired. I remember being motivated over a decade ago, by the man who would become our president, when he said and we chanted that we were, "Fired up and ready to go." Well, there were groups of people and are groups of people who had/have other ideas about how to s***f out the fire, rather than allow it to ignite. And when ignited want to take a fire hose and s***f it out.

I'm still ready to go.
I will not allow the negativity and ugliness we have been subjected to s***f out the embers of hope for a better America. I invite us not to turn off, but to turn on to a process with the potential to make a difference, rather than lay dormant in despair and hopelessness.

Voting matters. We the people make the difference.

Our fight for the right to vote, our ancestors lost their lives, jobs, homes and health, for this right cannot be overstated.

We can't afford to be tired. We must get re-fired up. We must overcome our cynicism, and even our disgust.
We can't stop now!

Stress? I Don't Think So! Think So!

When I turn this way, life turns that. I have no idea where my money's at. My hair's undid, my clothes don't fit, So, I take a moment to laugh at it. Overcome my stress with wit. I smile.
I'm knocked down every time I stand. Not one thing goes the way I planned. I can't even hold on to my man.
But when stress caught up to me, I ran. I choose to love life all I can.
I smile.
Stress tries to overtake me, Overpower and undertake me, I know the devil is a lie. I refuse to curse my God and die.
I smile.
The devil and I are in a dual. I rest, reflect and then refuel.
I know there is a power greater than I.
I prefer to instead of cry. I smile

Dear Friends, Family, and Fans,
On September 11, 2001 my neighbor left for work angry at his wife. They had a routine. He would have access to the bathroom first so that he could get to his job in Manhattan early enough to get his coffee and prepare for the day. That particular morning, for no explicable reason, his wife changed the routine. She went to the bathroom first, making her husband later than usual. Had my neighbor made it to work at his usual time, he would have been on the 40th floor of the Twin Towers when the terrorists attacked. He would have been among the thousands who lost their lives that day.

I have heard many stories of any number of circumstances that caused some individuals to be late or absent from work that day. When I’m running late, I think about what tragedy I might be avoiding because I am stuck in traffic, or in the bathroom, or over slept, or just didn’t leave early enough. So I seldom get highjacked by road rage or even stress when traffic stalls. Okay, sometimes I forget… but most days I remember… “this is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it” while we can… at every chance we can.

Especially on the anniversary of 9/11 , I remember those we lost as a result of that horrific event. I pray for them and their families. I ask that each of us find a way to honor those lives. I am trying to fill the empty spaces with purpose and dedicate my life so that “my living will not be in vain.” Whether we are running early or late let’s carry a loving spirit.

Dear Friends, Family and Fans,

When I speak to students the first question they ask me,

after asking "How old are you?",

is

“ Are you rich?“

My answer is always the same,

whether my finances are on the rise, or in the dump.

“Yes, I am rich.”

I know what they are asking and

what I am answering are actually two different things.

They want to know if my “work” as

a author/poet/presenter/publisher/professor

affords me all the luxuries of the fab life,

while my concept of rich is

having a joyous, love-filled, health-filled life.

During my interactions with the young people

my goal is to invite them to embrace my definition of rich.

What I know is, the streets will win if our children think

bling is the only important thing.

We have to be advertisements for a life

full of fun, family faith, friends, and yeah, its important to add being physically and financially fit.

If the other definition of rich wants to join in…that works for me.
