🎉 HUGE NEWS! Empowering Our Community for Child Protection! 🎉

Please join us in celebrating Callie Dyer's incredible achievement! 🥳 She has officially completed the rigorous National Drug Endangered Children (DEC) Train the Trainer Certification!

This is a game-changer for Southwest Kansas! 🚀 Callie can now deliver vital DEC Awareness and DEC Approach trainings directly to organizations AND community members – and guess what? They're available at NO COST! 🌟

What You'll Learn & Why It Matters:

DEC Approach Training: 🤝 Equips participants with a comprehensive, collaborative strategy to identify, protect, and support drug-endangered children. Learn to recognize warning signs, gather evidence, and foster interdisciplinary cooperation for improved child and family outcomes.
DEC Awareness Training: 💡 Delves into the profound risks and long-term impact on children affected by drug environments. Understand the vital need for coordinated efforts to prevent, intervene in, and ultimately break multigenerational cycles of abuse and neglect.
This certification is a monumental step in our mission to protect vulnerable children. We are incredibly proud of Callie's dedication to this critical cause! ❤️

Ready to Make a Difference? Whether you're a professional enhancing your skills or a community member passionate about child welfare, these FREE trainings are for you!

❄️ Snowy scenes = beautiful views… but also extra caution! ❄️

The fresh snow may look peaceful, but it can bring hidden hazards along with it. Keep yourself and your loved ones safe with a few simple reminders:

🚗 Driving Tips
• Slow down and allow extra travel time
• Increase your following distance
• Brake gently—avoid sudden stops
• Watch for black ice on bridges and overpasses

🧤 Stay Safe Outdoors
• Dress in layers and wear proper footwear
• Use handrails and walk carefully on icy surfaces

🏠 At Home
• Keep walkways clear of snow and ice
• Check on neighbors who may need help
• Make sure pets have a warm, safe place indoors

📸 We’d love to see winter through your eyes!
Share your favorite snowy photos in the comments or tag us in your winter scenes—just remember to stay safe while capturing the beauty! ❄️💙

👏🎉 Community Leadership in Action! 🎉👏

We were so glad that a portion of our staff was able to attend yesterday’s reorganization meeting for the City of Garden City, where two new City Commissioners were officially sworn in 🏛️✋

In their day-to-day roles, both of these incredible leaders are active participants in our Local Health Equity Action Team (LHEAT) 🤝💙 and the Finney County Community Health Coalition 🌱🏘️. We know Garden City is in safe, strong hands with these two seated at the bench 💪⚖️✨

🎊💐 Congratulations to 💐🎊
⭐ Vice Mayor Deb Oyler ⭐
⭐ Commissioner Karen Canales Lozano ⭐

Thank you both for your leadership, service, and dedication to our community — we’re cheering you on! 🙌💙🌟

🎉 A huge congratulations to our own Tom Nguyen! 🎉

LiveWell has a new reason to be proud of our team—today, Tom was elected to serve as Mayor of Garden City!

Unfortunately, not all of our staff was able to be there to celebrate in person, but our pride and support for Tom couldn’t be stronger. He steps into this role as the youngest mayor in Garden City’s history and the first Asian American to serve as mayor.

We know Tom will do a fantastic job leading our community forward. Congratulations, Mayor Nguyen—we’re cheering you on! 💙🏙️

💙 Thank you to Leave a Legacy Foundation, USD 457, and the Masonic Cancer Alliance for partnering to improve colon cancer screening rates in our community!

🩺 Today, LiveWell Finney County staff were on hand at the staff inservice to remind everyone that you don’t want to delay getting screened for colon cancer—screening saves lives.

📊 Did you know? Finney County currently has the second-lowest colon cancer screening rate in Kansas. That’s why these conversations matter.

📩 Want LiveWell to come to your workplace or organization to keep the conversation going? Send us a message—we’d love to partner with you!

💬 Most Kansas youth see through the hype—and Finney County youth are no exception.

According to Kansas Communities That Care data, over 77% of youth say there’s little or no chance of being seen as “cool” if they drink regularly.

✅ Healthy choices are the norm

✅ Youth are backing each other

✅ Prevention is already working

👉 In Finney County, we can keep this momentum going. Talk with the young people in your life, reinforce positive choices, and support local prevention efforts that help youth thrive.
