I am interested in Dr Attia's idea of a Centenarian Olympics. First, pick physical activities that you would like to be able to perform to maximize your independence, social interactions, and enjoyment late in life. For example, climbing stairs, carrying groceries, putting a suitcase in the overhead, getting up from the floor, or getting out of the pool. Then create exercise milestones for yourself in your 80's, 70's, 60's, and 50's that keep you on pace to be an older athlete.
Many people cannot enjoy their last decade or two due to physical impairments. I think this would help to optimize. I currently work with a 97 year old that swims twice a week, and a 99 year old that lives alone. Those are blessing to stride towards.

Living to 100 isn’t a given, but a new concept about training for your century milestone might be able to help.
