One of the reasons humility is stressed in Espiritismo, is having a humble heart allows you to see things as they are, not what the ego perceives/wishes it to be. Its not just a moral principle, but a practicality; It’s hard to hear anyone (in spirit or otherwise), when you can’t get passed what’s in your own chattering bone box.

The kitchen will always be your first sacred place. No Boveda? You can still take a clean cotton cloth misted with Florida water, place it and a cool glass of water in an out of the way section of your counter, and you are ready to work. Granted that’s a bit simplified, but I think it’s golden.
