This. Is. WILD!

A baby girl was delivered at Burning Man after her mother unexpectedly went into labor at the desert festival on Wednesday morning.

Kayla Thompson and her husband, Kasey Thompson, were sleeping in their R.V. camper trying to rest during their first burn when she awoke in pain, thinking it could be her appendix.

Instead, it was her first child, a 3-pound 9-ounce baby girl, which she delivered in the bathroom of their camper, with subsequent help from a neonatal nurse, an OB-GYN wearing only his underwear and a pediatric doctor all at the festival as well, who rushed to assist after the husband ran out of the R.V..

The couple normally based in Salt Lake City says they had no idea she was pregnant.

Other burners have called the baby “Citizen Zero,” while a gofundme with this picture has been started to help the family.

Motherhood changes you in ways no one can prepare you for.

Your body stretches.
Your heart expands.
Your days blur, and your love sharpens.

You learn to speak the language of your baby’s cry.
You give of yourself in quiet, unseen ways.
And somehow, in the middle of it all… you find strength you didn’t know you had.

Today, I’m holding space for all mamas—new mamas, seasoned mamas, grieving mamas, waiting mamas.

However motherhood touches your story, may you feel seen, held, and honored today. 💛
