2026 doula and photography availability

I received an inquiry for January this morning and it reminded me that I should share that I'll be taking a limited number of doula and/or birth photography clients during the first half of 2026. See you soon!

One New Year’s baby- he came on his due date, too!

Caught a baby (really just kept her from hitting the bathroom floor)

Attended my second vaginal twin birth (UK MFM)

I only attended births into the first week of August before I started my new job as a special education assistant, so it was a "light" year of doula work compared to the past. Looking forward to a couple June babies and seeing my UK "coworkers" again!

Summer availability

I've been adjusting to work life as a special education paraeducator (so many crossover skills with doula work), but wanted to remind everyone that I am taking limited summertime clients. One family has already reached out for June and I cannot wait! And I am still taking scheduled c-section doula and photography clients throughout the year.

****update! Thank you so much for the outpouring of love 💚 please give us time to inventory all of the donations we’ve received and we will repost with an updated list of needs. We couldn’t do this work without our amazing community💚

We have a young mother coming to us from the hospital in two days. She gave birth to twins last night and has nothing for them. We are requesting any new or gently used newborn items. Newborn diapers, bassinettes, bottles, clothes, blankets, bath products etc. If you have items to donate, please PM us or email virginia@arborky.org.

Thank you for your continued support in helping Lexington's homeless youth. We could not do the work without you.

Changing course

Over the past seven years as a doula, I’ve supported many clients as their labors plans have changed course. Now, I’m taking a detour from the path I’ve been on and am starting a new job as a special education assistant at a local elementary school. I’m also going back to school to get my Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Elementary Education. I’m super excited for the career change while also feeling really sad about putting birth work on the back burner.

Being a doula has been life changing. I’ve learned so much about myself and the human experience. Thinking about the people I’ve met through this work gets me choked up. I’ve been to over 150 births and have crossed paths with folks I’m certain I wouldn’t have met otherwise. Those encounters have made my life richer and given me a deeper understanding of what it means to love.

While I will be working full time on a school year schedule, I do hope that I can stay connected to the birth world. You may know that I love supporting and photographing scheduled c-sections, so please keep me in mind for those births. There will also be holiday breaks and summer break where I may be able to act as a backup doula/photographer or take a small number of clients. You can continue to reach out to me for referrals when I am not available.

Thank you to the folks who have supported me in this work and trusted me to be a part of their birth experience.

I love you.

Three generations at home

Big sister woke up right after baby sister was born. She was carried into the bedroom by her grandma who'd been by her daughter's side the whole labor. So happy I was able to get a photo of all three generations loving on each other.

Loved serving as this family's doula for the third time (and their fourth baby). And was so happy that MDT Photography L.L.C was there to capture the beautiful morning and be there for support since the midwife was not able to make it on time for the birth.

When I heard that the midwife was going to arrive about 45 minutes after I did, I thought that there was a good chance I'd catch the baby. Sure enough, 29 minutes after my arrival, I made sure baby girl did not hit the bathroom floor. 😅
