Why is Lyme so hard to treat? Part 1

The Lyme bacteria, Borrelia burgdorferi, is a spirochete. This bacteria changes shapes and forms, allowing the bacteria to evade the immune system. The cyst form is highly resistant to destruction. Furthermore, the bacteria steals proteins fron your own cells and "wears them" as a disguise, making them harder to recognize. The spiral corkscrew shape allows them to burrow deep within body tissues, hard to oenetrate places by antibiotics. Finally, Lyme is known as the great imitator, causing a vast array of seemingly unrelated symptoms and conditions.

As we go into the holiday weekend, remember my Never, Later, Good, Better, Best approach in regards to food and food sensitivities.

NEVER: these are the anaphylactic reactions. Avoid even if health is improving in other areas.

LATER: Instead of dwelling in frustration, sadness and lack as you see others enjoying, have hope and say "Later". Many severe food intolerances can be greatly improved over time when working on detox, inflammation, and histamine.

GOOD: if you are at a point of tolerance, it is okay and even GOOD to indulge in a treat. Happiness and not living in fear is very healthy. Even if is it just one small bite of cake.

BETTER: you don't always need to eat perfect or organic to have a healthy meal. And there are many ways to spruce up a burger or hotdogs to make it healthier. Get creative.

BEST: if you can afford or if available, go wild! Eat abundantly in this category! Just dont despair if it is not possible 100% of the time. And again. Get creative and contribute. Bring berries instead of dessert or REAL cheese instead of manufactured cheese to your holiday gathering.

A simple approach for addressing biotoxin illnness:

Tick bites are easier to prevent than Lyme disease is to treat.
When hiking:

1.) Wear light colored clothing to make ticks easier to spot
2.) Wear long pants. Tuck your pant legs into your socks to prevent ticks from getting inside
3.) Every 15 minutes do a quick check on your legs
4.) Put clothes in hot dryer for 10 minutes when coming inside
5.) Check yourself and shower after being indoors

You dont have to hide yourself indoors out of fear. But simple wisdom goes a long way.
