While much of my recent focus has been on building out retreats to support LEO family members, my long-term focus has been on educating and supporting LEO.

Last week, 80 local, state and federal officers (and one from Australia!) engaged in a conversation with me about mental wellness, hypervigilance, and trauma.

The conversations aren’t always easy, but I remain convinced that when we create spaces where officers are validated and trust the therapist in the room, the dialogue will unfold. Transparency, cultural competency, and clinical proficiency are the standard for me, not a suggestion.

Grateful for the opportunity to continue to put context to what officers experience. When they know better, they are able to do better, every time.
