We want to sincerely thank the East Chatham Fire Department (ECFD), Chatham Fire Department (CFD), Tri-Village Fire Department (TVFD), New York State Police (NYSP), New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), LifeNet of New York, the Columbia County Fire Coordinators Office (CCFCO), and the amazing trauma team at Albany Med ER for their help at yesterday’s serious accident.

We are truly grateful for the dedication, skill, and cooperation shown by every agency involved. It’s in moments like this that we are reminded how lucky our community is to have such committed people watching over us.

From all of us at Chatham Rescue Squad, thank you. β€οΈπŸš‘

Columbia County Fire-Rescue Incidents

September is Su***de Prevention Month. First responders face unique challenges that can take a toll on their mental health. The chronic stress of their work places them at a higher risk for experiencing mental health symptoms, including thoughts of su***de.

In fact, the rate of suicidal thoughts among New York State first responders is four times higher than that of the general population.

This alarming statistic comes from New York’s inaugural First Responder Mental Health Needs Assessment, conducted by DHSES in partnership with the Institute for Disaster Mental Health and the Benjamin Center at SUNY New Paltz. To read the final report, visit https://www.governor.ny.gov/sites/default/files/2025-02/First-Responder-MHNA-Final-Report.pdf.

You are not alone. Help is available. If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988 or visit 988lifeline.org to connect with a counselor. Available 24/7/365.

Today we remember those that were lost. We also are thankful for our members that answered the call to respond.
Please take a moment to remember those that we lost and to pray and think about those that remember and live this day.

πŸš¨πŸ‘ Big Congratulations to Jess on her well-deserved promotion!

As a 911 dispatcher, she has been a steady voice of calm and professionalism in some of the toughest moments. We’re so proud to see her hard work recognized and excited to continue working alongside her in this new role.

Thank you for everything you do for first responders and our community β€” and congrats again! πŸŽ‰

🚨 Congratulations to Shift Supervisor Jess Maloy, 11-82! 🚨

Today marked Jess’s very first shift as a newly promoted Shift Supervisor here at Columbia County 911 β€” and she was immediately put to the test, managing a 4th alarm structure fire in the City of Hudson.

For the past 9 years, Jess has been a steady and reliable voice here at Columbia 911. In addition to her work as a dispatcher, she has led the way as our Public Outreach Coordinator, always going the extra mile to support both her coworkers and the community she serves.

Please join us in congratulating Supervisor Maloy on this well-earned promotion! πŸ‘πŸ‘
