There’s a wee one on the way for my oldest nephew and niece (inlaw?). Savannah loves literature so a swaddle sack and hat she shall get. The moves are done. My arms are in agony. I can’t knit, paint, write, etc. So I decided to bake macarons! I watched a ton of videos and read all the tips. It took 2 batches to realize the oven was broken. These bad boys were a labor of love. Lots of temp adjustments, rotating, opening and closing the door, and cursing. These are simple vanilla macarons with a Sicilian cannoli buttercream, and rolled in crushed pistachios. They taste like Grandmas cannoli. Something I really needed in this self-imposed disruption.

I knit my socks up and had about half a skein of yarn left. So I made a scrunchie with a cute bow! Why didn’t I think of this sooner!! This is Unicorn Tears by Hedgehog Fibers.

Our house is on the market! Although this is our we have found my health challenges are not up to the task. It’s a 3 story house, 3bed/3bath and a fully manicured yard with a pool and hot tub. It also has a fabulous peekaboo view from the upstairs and kitchen, and an unobstructed view all fall and winter. We’ve loved it for 6 years, and now my body says I need a rambler with no yard work. So here we are, making a big decision. We are downsizing to an apartment and splitting our time in a 55+ community in Florida. I went to visit my mom and step-dad. She wanted to go to the Marine Ball. So we went! We had cake and cut a rug. It was a good night together. Such a good visit. The recovery period has been worth every minute we spent together.

Jasper ate a toy on July 16th. He was doing fine so we thought it had passed. He finally started showing symptoms a week ago. He stopped eating his dry food so he began to lose weight rapidly (he’s extremely active). We came back from fishing to a very thin cat. He’s lost 5lbs. We started him on more wet food and he ate ravenously. So we went to urgent care. 3 days later he ended up at kitty hospital for a scope and overnight stay. They found the entire mouse, still intact from July. Lesson? Polyfil does not digest at all. Why do they put it in pet toys?! WTF?! Poor Jasper is feeling much better, but is very sad and doesn’t understand why he can’t have toy mice anymore. Im so wiped out. I’ve been sleeping and napping since Wednesday just trying to get back to a baseline of health. Sometimes it’s rough in the Scott house.

To my teacher and mentor Judith MacKenzie. Every future ball of yarn and carded fiber will hold your memory. I’m so grateful for everything I have learned from Judith, and the time I have had with her. There was a sale of a few of Judith’s things at the June and I took the opportunity to purchase this old Fricke ball winder and some large Clemes & Clemes carders. Thank you for one last class with Judith. it was a beautiful retreat with lots of happy and sad moments.
