What is pediatric occupational therapy?
It is a branch of rehabilitation medicine with services provided by certified occupational therapists. The realm of pediatrics focuses more specifically on children (0-18 years), working with their families to improve their independence and skills in the everyday activities that occupy their time during their daily lives. A child’s occupations include play, self-care, sleep, education, leisure, and social participation. Occupational therapy emphasizes helping people to live their lives to the fullest, participating in the activities that bring them joy, and problem-solving ways to do the things they love despite injury or diagnosis.
