This is an example of private action for rainforest conservation.

Johan Eliasch, a Swedish billionaire, bought around 400,000 acres of the Amazon by acquiring the company that held logging rights. He immediately stopped all logging operations, allowing the forest to remain intact and continue absorbing carbon, supporting biodiversity, and maintaining its vital ecosystem functions.

The initiative highlights how private ownership can directly contribute to environmental protection.
It also demonstrates the potential of leveraging corporate acquisitions for conservation goals rather than profit.

By preserving large swaths of rainforest, Eliasch helps safeguard endangered species, regulate local climate, and combat deforestation on a significant scale.
This approach shows that individual action, when strategically applied, can have a lasting positive impact on global ecosystems.

The project stands as a model of proactive environmental stewardship in the fight against deforestation.

The Seven Celestial Sisters and Grandmother Moon rendezvous this week.

🌕✨ December 3 — The Moon Meets the Seven Sisters ✨🌌

On December 3, 2025, the nearly full Moon (99% illuminated) will rise beside one of the night sky’s most beloved treasures — the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters. A golden Moon glowing above the mountains, an observatory dome watching from below, and the icy-blue star cluster shimmering nearby… it’s a celestial scene worthy of a painting.

🌙 A Rare Occultation

For millions of skywatchers across North America, Europe, and northern Africa, this isn’t just a close pass — it’s a lunar occultation.
The Moon will glide directly in front of the Pleiades, briefly hiding several of its brightest stars:

• Electra
• Merope
• Maia
• Alcyone

From cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Moon will pass right through the heart of the cluster, making stars blink out and reappear at its shadowed edge.
Binoculars will help you catch these disappearances despite the Moon’s strong glare.

🌌 The Seven Sisters

The Pleiades lie 444 light-years away in Ta**us — a young cluster of hot blue stars known across countless cultures for thousands of years. Though called the “Seven Sisters,” the cluster contains over a thousand stars, with only six or seven visible without equipment.
