I Was Motivated And Inspired To Make This Short After My Last Few Sessions With My Therapist.

For Those Who Have Not Met Me, Or Don’t Know Me Very Well, I Currently Fight Depression, Anxiety, And Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I’ve Been Steadily Seeking Help On And Off, Over The Years, But As Of Lately, I Have Been Making A Steady Effort To Keep It In Check.

One Of The Exercises That I Had Gone Through With My Therapist Was, Simply Enough, Writing An Impromptu Letter To Who I Was Before…Before All The Hurt, And The Trauma, And The Macchiato Addictions (Har Har).

It Had Inspired Me To The Point Of Wanting To Turn What Was Originally Just An Exercise Into A Bit Of An Impromptu Vlog Of Me Walking Aroubd My Neighborhood Of Glendale, California, GoPro In Hand.

Hoping All Of You Have Been Doing Safe And Well, And That I Will Be Aim To Be A Little More Proactive Woth Both This Page And My YouTube Channel.

2021 Had Honestly Felt Like A Mixed Bag, At Best, For Me. It Was A Year That Felt A Little Heavy, At Times. I Felt A Sense Of A Change, Some Feelings Of Loss, Some Sobered Realizations, And Add Into That, A Whopper Of Uncertainty.

Between The End Of A Relationship, A Car Accident, Developing PTSD, And Letting Go Of The Fears And Stigmatized Beliefs Attached To Reaching My 30s, At The End Of The Day, I Can Pat Myself On The Back And Say That I’ve Done The Best That I Can With The Situation At Hand, No Matter The Many Times That I Felt Absolutely Fu***ng Overwhelmed.

I Wanted To Make This Impromptu Vlog To Express What I’ve Been Feeling, Up To This Point. At The End Of The Day, Though, I Still Have My Hopes And My Dreams, And The Cool Cats In My Life….And A Journey That Is Far From Over….

May 2022 Be An Abundance Of Happiness, Of Joy, Of Hope, Of Change, And F**k, Maybe Some Magic For All Of Us, Too.

Not A Wanderer’s Journal Installment, But I Wanted To Try Out Something A Little Different. Earlier Last Month, I Filmed Some Live Performance Footage For My Friend, Albert, Who Is The Bassist For Los Angeles-based Rock Band TORTA SLUMBER PARTY.

I Shot This Footage This Past Month With Both My GoPro Max And Hero9 (As Well As My Current IPhone, Which Is A 2020 SE). As A Bit Of A Test, I Wanted To See How Well They Would Capture Live Performance Footage, Even If It Was A Small Gig. I Did Run Into Some Small Setbacks, In The Process. When I Was Shooting The First Quarter Of The Gig Shot From My MAX, The Audio Dipped In Quality Drastically, And I Was Unable To Use Any Of That. What You’re Seeing Here Is What Was Shot From The Hero9 And The IPhone.

The Others Were Mainly With Editing And Upload Issues With YouTube. As This Is My First Project Edited Through Premiere Pro. Having Been A Final Cut Pro User EXTREMELY Out Of Practice, And As I Had Edited The Majority Of “Wanderer’s Journal” Through My IPhone’s IMovie App, It Was A Little Intimidating To Use, But Ultimately Fun Process.

Very Much Both A Learning Experience And A Fun Experiment, And I’m Rather Interested In Honing This More, But In The Meantime, Enjoy This Wonderful Performance From The Band, And Show Them Some Love On Instagram

For This 14th Installment Of “The Wanderer’s Journal”, In Celebration Of National Coming Out Day, As Well My 10 Year Anniversary Of Coming Out As A Proud And Out Pansexual, I Share And Recall Memories Of Growing Up That Led To That Day In 2011 Where I Chose To Live My Truth Without Fear.

Yeah, Yeah, A Label Is A Label, And No, I’m Not Going To Use This Time To Mark Out The Differences Of Being Pansexual And Being Bisexual, And I’m Sick Of Hearing Of The “It’s Not Real” Debate, So Please Don’t Bother Persuading Me, Otherwise.

Been A Little While, But Episode 13 Of “The Wanderer’s Journal” Is Finally Up!

Following Up On Some Themes And Topics Discussed From The Previous Episode, I Had A Bit Of A Wonderful Encounter During A Late Night Coffeeshop Visit During Labor Day Weekend, And I Wanted To Share It With Y’all.

There’s This Really Peaceful Park That’s Literally Right Across The Street From Where I Work, And Even Though I Was Just Going To Write About The Story I’m Discussing This Episode, I Ended Up Bringing My Camera And Did A Bit Of An Impromptu Entry Out Of My Visit Here, That Day.

I Wanted To Share With You Guys A Brand New “Wanderer’s Journal” Episode, And It’s About A Topic I’ve Been Meaning To Discuss.

Back In April Of This Year, I Was Hit By A Car On The Way Home. I’ve Been Spending The Majority Of Downtime In Recovery From The Injuries, Both Physically And Mentally, As Well As Taking Time Away From My Daytime Job, Which Had Recently Rehired Me After Spending The Majority Of The Pandemic Furloughed, And Eventually, Jobless.

As Detailed From My One Of My Previous Installments Focusing On World Mental Health Day, I Fight Depression And Anxiety On A Daily. As of This Accident, I Now Have To Deal With The Addition Of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Alongside All This. I Share My Story Of How I’ve Been Dealing With Everything These Past Couple Months ✨

With Apologies For The Long Delay, I’m Happy To Announce That The Latest Edition Of “The Wanderer’s Journal” Is Finally Here!

For This Premiere Episode, We Return, Once Again, To Buena Park For Knott’s Berry Farm’s “Taste Of Boysenberry” Festival. Filmed In April, I Take A Look At The Park, As It Prepares Not Only For Its 100th Anniversary Celebration, But For Its Long-Awaited Reopening To Full-Operation After Having Remain (Mostly) Closed Due To The COVID-19 Pandemic.

I Also Shot Some Additional Footage, The Following Month, During Passholder Previews, To Showcase The Park In Working-Capacity, Rides And All.

The Park Has Been Decked Out Head To Toe In Decorations, And There Many Monuments And Photo Ops Celebrating The History Of What Was Originally A Humble Farm And Restaurant Stop Run By Walter And Cordellia Knott. This Is Very Much Place That I’ve Grown To Enjoy And Become Fond Of, Not Only For Its Preserves And Canned Goods, Or For Its Attractions, But For The Overall History.

Stay Tuned For New Wanderer Episodes, Coming Real Soon! For Now, Enjoy Episode 11 Of “When Will Ryley Shut The Hell Up?” ✨

(Thanks To My Friend, Jo, For Helping Provide Some Additional Camerawork For The Episode ❤️)

I Was Gonna Write My Thoughts And Reflections On The Year, But I Ended Up Turning It Into A Bonus Episode Of “The Wanderer’s Journal”.

2020 Has Certainly Been A Hectic And Unpredictable Mess For The Masses, As We’re Still Caught Up In The Middle Of Much Uncertainty, Living Our Daily Lives During A Pandemic, In Addition To The Winds Of Change In The Current Scoop-political Climates

A Good Chunk Of Events Has Happened In My Life. I Was Furloughed, And Would End Up Losing My Job Of Over 2 Years.

Living Through All Of This Has Put My Physical And Most Definitely My Mental Health To The Test.

I Miss Getting To See Hang Out With Many Of The Cool Cats In My Life.

It’s Been A Bit Hard Just Adjusting To Everything, Our “New Normal” Overall.

That’s Not To Say That The Year Was Totally Bad, As There Was Some Wonderful Things To Have Had.

I Reached A 1 Year Anniversary With My Partner In Crime, Who Has Been A Great Deal Of Support And Comfort Throughout All Of This.

I Contributed To A Mass YouTube Project, Led In-part By Filmmaker Ridley Scott, To Document What My “Life In A Day” Was Like During COVID.

That All Helped Me Bring To Life “The Wanderer’s Journal”, Which Not Only Has Been A Fun, Learning Experience And Renewed My Creative Flow After Having Left It In The Back Burner For A Good While, But It Also Reminded Me That No Matter How Long It Would Take, Why I Both Love And Continue Chasing My Dreams Of Being Both A Filmmaker, And A Storyteller.

As Always, I Can Only Go NOWHERE BUT UP.

Now Of Course, I Don’t Know What 2021 Will Bring. As John Lennon Would Say, “Tomorrow Never Knows”.

I Still Have Enough Willpower, And Hope, And Love, And Spirit To Keep This Show Going.

With All That Said, Please Enjoy This Little Bonus Episode, And That No Matter Where You Are Or Who You’re With, Please Have A Safe And Wonderful New Year.

“The Wanderer’s Journal” Returns For Its 9th And Final Episode Of 2020, As I Take Look At Knotts’ “Taste Of Merry Farm Festival!

Rounding Out A Trilogy Of Episodes That Began With “Taste Of Knott’s”, And Continued With “Taste Of Fall-O-Ween” Festivals, I Venture Out Once More To Buena Park To See The Park, Decked Out In Pure Holy And Jolly Bliss To Mark The Magic Of The Season.

As The Park’s Normal Operations, As Well was That Of Other Theme Park Attractions Closed Due In Part To The COVID-19 Pandemic, The Festival Once Again Follow All State And County Guidelines, Protocols And The Like.

The Tour Includes Extended Walkarounds Of Each Themed Areas Of The Park, Including Camp Snoopy, Which I Had Failed To Cover On The Previous Episodes.

Like The Previous Festivals, There’s Even A Few Atmospheric Actor That Interact With Visiting Guests, In This Case, Those Dressed Up Like The Characters In Charles Dickens’ Classic Story, “A Christmas Carol”. In Additions, The Ever Popular Peanuts Gang Are Also Dressed Up In Holiday Clothing For The Occasion!

The Event Was Originally To Have Continued All The Way To The Beginning Of January, But Was Cancelled Midway Through This Month Due To The Recent Spikes Statewide. As A Result Of The Event Cancellations On Its Remaining Dates, The Marketplace And Portions Of The Ghost Town Area Remained Open Strictly For Shopping And Food Takeout.

Having Done This Project, So Far, Has Been Nothing Short Of A Fun, Learning Experience, Both As A Filmmaker And A Storyteller. I’m Always On The Lookout For Places To Film Next Or Various Other Things To Discuss That Might Make A Good Hot Topic For These Video Diaries. As Such, I’m Still Getting Used To Properly Filming And Editing On A Limited Setup, Though It Won’t Stop Me From Doing More Of These 😅

For This 8th Installment Of “The Wanderer’s Journal”, I Wanted To Harken Back To Some Personal Topics I Had First Brought Up All The Way Back During My “Life In A Day” And Vegas Trip Vlogs From Earlier This Year.

10 Years Ago, I Had Experienced A Bout Of Homelessness That Had Lasted For Nearly A Good Year, For Various Reasons That Is Both Complicated And A Little Stupid To Get Into.

10 Years, I Felt That It Was Time I Shed A Bit More Light.

Alongside Being On The Streets (And My Friend’s Couches) In Vegas, At The Time, I Had Also Spent A Reasonable Portion Of It Parked In The Beaches Of Redondo And Santa Monica.

I Never Got Around To Filming The Latter, But For This Episode, I Made A Late Night Adventure To Redondo Beach During The Last Days Of Summer In Early-September 2020. I Share With You A Walking Tour Of The Pandemic-Affected Boardwalk Full Of Business, As Well As Share With You Personal Memories And Thoughts Of This Debauched Part Of My Life.

Like With The “Life” Upload From Back In July, I Had A Bit Of Reluctance And Hesitance On Dedicating A Vlog Talking About This; Mostly, I Was Afraid Of Coming Off As Preachy Or A Debbie Downer.

At The End Of The Day, It Is In My Personal Belief That Every Adventure In Life That We Partake In, Both The Good And The Bad, Leads To Growth, Awareness And An Understanding In Not Only This Crazy, Unpredictable Universe That We Live In, But It Also Gives Us A Better Understanding Of What Makes Us, Well, Us.

It Is Also In My Belief That No One Should Ever Have To Experience Those Kinds Of Situations, Ever.

“The Wanderer’s Journal” Returns For Its 7th Installment, As I Make A Return Visit The Beautiful Knott’s Berry Farm Theme Park In Buena Park.

Now, You May Remember Back In September That I Did An Episode Here For The Park’s “Taste Of Knott’s” Fest, Which Was A Popular Hit With All The Boysenberry Lovers Who Needed Their Ghost Town Fix And More, As The Park Remains Closed Due To The COVID-19 Pandemic.

This Time, I Visited In Mid-October For The “Taste Of Fall-O-Ween” Festival. Like With All Theme Parks In California Presently Closed Due To The Pandemic, The Mass Majority Of Special Events Had Been Cancelled, In Knotts’ Case, Its Long-Running “Scary Farm” Annual Halloween Event.

The Tour Includes Extended Walkarounds Of Ghost Town And Other Areas I Had Failed To Film On The Previous Visit, Like The Boardwalk And Fiesta Village, As Each Have Been Extensively Themed And Decorated For Spooky Season, While Keeping In-Line With The County’s Safety Guidelines With The CDC.

There’s Even A Few Atmospheric Undead Scare Actors That Interact With Visiting Guests.

According To The Knott’s Official Website, The Popularity Of These Festivals Had Led To An Upcoming “Taste Of Christmas” Festival Coming Real, So Ill Make Sure To Do One of My Next Episodes Focusing On That.

For Our 6th Installment Of “A Wanderer’s Journal”, I Take A Look At The Neon-Lit Universal Studios Citywalk In Universal City, Ca, Which Had Recently Reopened To Guests Earlier In The Summer. Whilst The Theme Park Presently Remains Closed Due To The COVID-19 Pandemic, I Take A Walking Tour Around The Rather-Kitschy Outdoor Shopping Complex, Which Has Been In Business Since The Early 1990s, As Well As Share Some Of My Memories And Stories Of Visiting And Eventually Working For The Company.

The Wanderer’s Journal Is Back! For This Fourth Edition, I Take A Walkaround Tour Of The Recently-Reopened Downtown Disney At The Disneyland Resort In Anaheim.

Shot On 2 Separate Occasions In Late-August And Early-September, Yet Under Equally-Humid Weather, I’m Joined In This Episode By My Dear Friend, Gabriela, In Addition To A Special Guest, As We Roam About Disney’s Outdoor Shopping Plaza, As Both The Happiest Place On Earth, As Well As Sister Park California Adventure, Remain Closed Due To The COVID-19 Pandemic

The Tour Includes Visits To World Of Disney, The LEGO Store, Disney Dress, Disney Home, A Lunch Stop At Ralph Garman’s Jazz Kitchen, Marceline’s Confectionary, And Dinner At The Black Tap.

In Addition, We Also Shot Footage Inside The Recently-Closed Wonderground Art Gallery, Which Made News Rounds Over The Internet, Recently, As It Is To Be Replaced With A Star Wars-Themed Shop Filled With Various Galaxy’s Edge Merchandise, Which Would’ve Only Been Exclusively-Available To Guests Visiting The Park.
According To The Disneyland Website; Wonderground Will Return At A Later, Though Currently Unknown Time.

Episode 3 Of My Video Diary Project Is Now Online!

Last Month, I Paid A Visit To Knott’s Berry Farm In Buena Park During Its “Taste Of Knotts” Event. As Theme Parks And Various Other Places In California Were Not Fully Operating As Normal Due To The COVID-19 Pandemic, The Event Was Created To Entice Guests Old And New To Some Of The Park’s Famous Food Dishes, Following The Positive Reception Of The “Taste Of Calico”.

Now, I Had Not Visited The Park In Many Many Years. I Remembered The First Time I Visited The Park When I Was 11-12, And Me And A Few Of My Classmates In Middle School Won A Trip Here After Winning A Fundraiser Contest For Selling Candy.

So The Original Intention Of Filming This Particular Installment Was Mainly As A Walkaround, Which It Still Kind Of Is.

What I Was NOT Anticipating Was How Bad The California Heat Was Going To Be That Day (A Whomping 110-Degrees!), And How Rather Ill-Prepared I Was (I Hate Summer).
Needless To Say, is It Did Not Help The Aforementioned “Boysenberry Buzz” I Went Through During Most Of The Visit, And I Kinda Just Gave Up On Filming More Because Of How Absolutely Dehydrated I Was.

The Vlog Includes A Walking Tour Of The Entrance’s Marketplace, A Walkaround Of Ghost Town, In Addition To Some Of The Guidelines That Have Been Taken Into Effect By Order Of The CDC. The Visit Concludes With A Much-Needed Chicken Pot Pie From Mrs. Knotts!

After Seeing Some Of The Positive Feedback Received For My Video Contribution To The “Life In A Day” Project, I Was A Little Inspired To Give Doing These Video Journals Another Try.

I Made A Trip To Las Vegas At The Beginning Of The Month In The Hopes Of Capturing On Video How The COVID-19 Pandemic Has Affected The So-Called City That Never Sleeps.

So I Did Just That, And A Little More.

I Was Able To Shoot In And Around The City, Including How Some Of The Resorts Have Implemented CDC Guidelines On The Casino Floor And Other Major Businesses, For Tourists, Locals, And Gamblers In-Between.

I Was Also Able To Grab A Gnosh At Some Of The Buffets That Have Recently Reopened In Town, And How It Became A Completely New Experience Within Itself With The Current State Codes.

In Addition, The Other Reason Why I Was Adamant On Wanting To Do A Trip Here Was That This Year Marked A 10 Year Anniversary Of When I Had Spent An Extended Period Of Time Of Being Homeless On The Strip, Which I Share And Get Into Detail On Video.

It Was A Pretty Emotional Time Having To Reminisce Whilst I Passed By Various Spots Around Town Where I Had Used To Bring My Guitar With Me And Crummily Play And Sing For The Tourists Passing By. It’s Safe To Say That I Still Suck At It 🤣

It Feels Like I’ve Come A Long Way To The Individual I Was, At The Time, Though I Still Have Long Ways To Go On This Journey...

As With The Life Video, I Shot And Edited This Through My iPhone, Which Isn’t My Usual Set-Up, But You Work With What You Got, Right? It Is Rather Roughly-Shot, As A Result (I Do Apologize), And I’m Still Dusting Off My Camera And Editing Skills After A Long Time...Having Said That, The Fun Experience I Have Had With Shooting This And The Other Video Was Worth The Practice!

Of Course, Said-Experience From Doing Both Has Shown Why I Enjoy Telling Stories And Why I Still Want To Make It As A Filmmaker.

Which Leads Me To Ask If Any Of You Would Be Interested In Watching More Of These Video Journals In The Future? Even Though My Primary Focus Remains On Doing Features And Shorts, I May Be Turning This Venture Into A Full Time Project, So I Would Love To Hear Your Feedback 😅

Without Further Ado, My Vegas Video Diary.
