Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to go on a road trip with my 90-year-old dad to my youngest son’s graduation at UC Santa Cruz. My dad is a wealth of knowledge, and his approach to life is truly inspiring. This weekend, we all wanted to learn his secrets to longevity and vitality. Here is my dad’s guide to a long life:

1. Consistent Routine: My dad wakes up at the same time every day, brushes his teeth, takes a shower, and gets dressed. He then makes a pot of coffee, eats his cereal with warm milk so it’s easy to chew, and reads the newspaper.
2. Staying Active: Even in his retirement years, he keeps busy by taking classes at the local junior college, including foreign film classes that require reading subtitles. He also participates in water aerobics, which is gentle on his body, and takes morning and evening walks.
3. Simple Diet: He eats similar, simple foods every day and enjoys his meals at regular times. His nighttime routine includes dinner by a certain hour, an evening walk, a cup of coffee, and a little dessert. He’s in bed by 11:30 PM and sleeps soundly without any sleep aids.

This routine has kept him in great shape and full of life. Embrace these habits and transform your well-being!
