In this episode of The Herbalist Hour I'm joined once again by Dana Hutchinson.
Dana was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called Lichen Sclerosus in 2012 shortly after learning her mother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
With Western harsh topical steroids and estrogen creams making things worse and covering up underlying systemic issues, Dana looked to eastern medicine to begin repairing her condition, and within 3 months, she began to feel vital, hopeful, and motivated that recovery was possible.
In one year, Dana’s extreme case of LS was in full remission. Now supporting LS clients for over a decade with comprehensive herbal medicine protocols, Dana has produced a potent herbal oil clinically tested and formulated to target the debilitating symptoms of LS.

Dana received a chronic autoimmune disease diagnosis of Lichen Sclerosis in 2012. This marked her battle with her recovery and truly opened her eyes to the pitfalls of Western medicine’s treatment of diseases. With her condition only worsening with topical steroids, biopsies, and harsh medicines, Dana insisted there had to be another way to treat her condition. She walked through the doors of Traditional Medicine Clinic in Sydney, Australia in 2013, which completely changed her life, forever. As her condition improved dramatically in a few short weeks, she became entirely infatuated with Eastern medicine and devoted herself to studying preventative and alternative medicine to heal the body naturally. She began her journey as a natural health practitioner and studied at the Mind Body Energy Reiki Center in Denver, the Anne Wigmore Living Foods Institute in Puerto Rico, the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism under Paul Bergner (RH, AHG), the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism under Lisa Ganora and Kat McKinnon (RH, AHG), the Heart of Herbs Herbalism School under Demetria Clark (M.H.), the Institute of Chinese Herbology under Kenneth Morris (L.A.c., Dipl. Ac.). and Cornell University Program for Nutrition Studies under Colin T. Campbell (MD.).
Dana, a Certified Medical Herbalist, Certified Clinical Herbalist, Certified Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Certified Flower Essence Therapist, Certified Field Botanist, Certified Reiki Master Healer (L3), and Certified Plant-Based Nutritionist, considers herself a student for life! With a combined herbal education of 6 years and 4 years of clinical experience, Dana has put in the time, energy, and research to serve each client’s unique health condition. She opened her medical herbal clinic in Denver, CO in 2016. Dana is also registered yoga teacher (RYT 200 hr.) through the Cascade School of Yoga & Yoga Alliance. She teaches in Denver & also leads wellness educational retreats with her sister company, Holistic Escape Retreats; serving as their lead herbalist & health educator. Previously, Dana graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Political Science/ Undergraduate Law and a Masters (M.A.) in Publishing & Design from the University of Sydney.
