There have been recent misleading conversations in politics and the media surrounding the best way to feed babies. While there are many benefits tied to breastfeeding, for many families, it is not always an option. Today is the latest South Carolina Senate Hearing for S.323, a bill that wouldn't just restrict women's choice and access to healthcare, including abortions, contraception, and IVF treatment, but remove it all together. If passed, this bill will have long reaching consequences in our communities and across the country.

If today feels especially heavy for you, remember to take what you need. If that means stepping away, step away. If that means calling your reps or rallying around amazing organizations like the Palmetto State Abortion Fund or Women's Rights and Empowerment Network - WREN, mobilize and call your reps.

And if that means messaging your therapist, I promise you we want to support and hold space for you during this time.

Hey there! I'm Jordanne, a Charleston-based LISW-CP with practicing licenses in South Carolina and Florida. If I have learned one thing in my career as a medical social worker and more recently as a perinatal mental health therapist at MUSC, it's that bodies are a miracle and a nightmare, often at the same time.

Rarely is navigating changing bodies a strictly medical or mental health matter. Whether you are in the thick of pregnancy and postpartum, hormonal shifts and menopause, or chronic illness, Works of Peace Counseling is here to help you bridge the space between mind, body, and spirit, no matter where you are in life.

Let's work together to treat you as a whole, complex, sometimes messy person, rather than components and parts. Schedule a 30-minute consultation with me through my website at worksofpeacecounseling.com .

It's already so lovely to meet you!
