Among the esteemed recipients is Dr. Benjamin Cashaw, Co-founder of the FruitBelt Coalition.

As a co-founder of the FruitBelt Coalition, Dr. Benjamin Cashaw is a driving force behind its mission to be a "single community voice." He is also the Chief Executive Officer of the FruitBelt Coalition Inc. and Ben's Coiffure LTD. A resident of Buffalo, NY, he holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Science of Cosmetology from the National Institute of Cosmetology.

​The FruitBelt Coalition aka Fruit of the City, is a non-profit organization focused on improving the quality of life in Buffalo's historic FruitBelt neighborhood and Medical Corridor. With a strong commitment to bridging gaps between generations and cultures. Dr. Cashaw works alongside local members of government and community organization to ensure residents of the FruitBelt neighborhood, are seen and heard. Dr. Cashaw, along with the rest of the Coalition, has advocated on behalf of Recovery Options and supported the operations of the Kirsten Vincent Respite & Recovery Center.

🎉Congratulations to the exceptional individuals being honored at our 35th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Salvatore's.

Among the esteemed recipients is Luke Sikinyi, Vice President of Public Policy, with The Alliance for Rights and Recovery.

Luke Sikinyi is a dedicated advocate for mental health services. His own experiences maintaining recovery as well as his experiences in direct service provision push him to help create a better system for those dealing with serious mental health challenges. He has an educational background in Psychology as well as a Master of Science in Public Health with a focus on Health Education and Health Communication from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Luke has wide ranging experiences from conducting research for policy changes to improve adolescent mental health to national policy advocacy to improve access to services for marginalized and disadvantaged communities. His understanding of research and valuable expertise organizing advocacy efforts on the local, state, and national level helped the organizations he has worked with push for funding for peer services, workforce development, and other person-centered recovery services.

Telehealth psychiatric intervention and Registered Nurses are available 24/7 to provide crisis stabilization, in addition to peer support to help individuals transition back home or to a community-based setting.

Bridget Clark (Housing Specialist) and Brianna Harvey (STRAWW Guide) attended this year’s event to support our community members, educating on Housing, Peer Recovery Services and Respite.

Olean had over 300 community members attend this years Pride in the Park event!
