September stands at the doorway of change.
The air shifts, cooler nights slip in,
and the trees begin their slow transformation.

It is a month that reminds us
life is built on transitions—
not sudden leaps, but steady steps.

September carries both memory and promise:
the fading warmth of summer
and the first breath of autumn.

Have you ever forgotten to breathe? Believe it or not, many of us have! With the stress of each day, we often lose our awareness and find ourselves clenching or grinding our teeth and holding our breath as we go about our daily tasks. You may also notice that you are a shallow breather - breathing from the chest in short, quick breaths that can often lead to more stress and even a panic attack! Instead, try Diaphragm Breathing.

The Diaphragm technique involves breathing in slowly through the nose while allowing the belly to expand, then breathing out slowly and pulling the belly back in. The focus is on the belly or diaphragm rather that the chest. Unlike shallow chest breathing which limits the circulation of oxygen in the body, diaphragm breathing allows the oxygen to flow more freely allowing for improved cell and organ function and a calmer sense of well-being. With a little bit of practice, you can easily master this technique. Soon after, you will find yourself breathing this way as your norm and you will begin to feel much more energized, clear-headed, and centered! Go ahead and give it a try!

Did you know that Reiki is often mistaken as a form of Massage? While the primary tool used in Reiki is touch, it is not a modality of massage therapy or body manipulation. Rather, Reiki is an ancient Japanese energy healing therapy which works to align and balance the body's Chi, or life force energy. When the body's Chi is in alignment, one can experience enhanced physiological, psychological, and emotional equilibrium leading to greater feelings of happiness and decreased feeling of stress and anxiety.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner lays her hands gently on the body (or just above the body, depending on the client's comfort level) utilizing specific hand placements with special focus on the Chakras centers. The practitioner then becomes the conduit for the channeling of universal life force energy. Through this hands-on technique, it is this activation of the client's own energy or Chi that is stimulated during a Reiki session. Thus, it is the client's own energized and aligned Chi that ultimately provides healing benefits to the body. Reiki is non-invasive and safe for all.

I've been feeling the weight of the world this week. The evil around us is so very heavy. I work hard not to let it carry me to a dark place. One way I combat this weight and recalibrate my energy is by grounding myself to the earth.

Are you familiar with the act of grounding? According to an article by Healthline:
Grounding is a technique that involves making direct contact with the Earth, typically by walking barefoot on grass, soil, or sand. This practice is based on the idea that the Earth carries a negative electrical charge, and when we connect with it, our bodies can absorb electrons that may help neutralize free radicals and reduce inflammation. Grounding can also be achieved through the use of grounding products, such as mats or sheets, that connect to the Earth’s electrical system.

For me, grounding means spending time in my garden with my favorite flowers as well as visiting my happiest of places - the beach. Just putting my feet in the sand and letting the sand slip through my fingers helps me feel much more at ease. And being in the soil with these beautiful blooms makes me smile.
