One of the most frequently asked questions we get is "will this help with my specific medical condition or diagnosis?" Here is a response I gave recently to an individual who was asking about ADHD: It's important to understand that NeurOptimal is not about treating a medical diagnosis, it is rather a whole brain / CNS training system that allows each individual to re-normalize - restoring resilience and flexibility within the system, what this looks like is unique to each person but generally people feel more optimistic, confident, clear headed etc, many people find a reduction in sugar or carb cravings, improvements in digestion, hand eye coordination, patience, processing speed, sleep quality, an improvement in overall well being - life just gets easier. When you ask about improvements in ADHD, what specifically are you thinking those improvements would look like? What would you measure to show improvements in ADHD? The diagnostic criteria for ADHD is a list of around 12 items, any combination of 6 of those items can result in a diagnosis, this means that two people with that label may have totally different areas of concern. My daughter had a diagnosis of ADHD before receiving neurofeedback and honestly she would not be diagnosed if she were tested again today, but rather than believing her ADHD improved, I see the whole picture that her sleep improved, her confidence and processing speed improved and overall her ability to function in every aspect of her life improved but not because her ADHD was targeted or treated but rather because her central nervous system had returned to a healthy level of flexibility and resilience allowing her to manage her life in a much more organized and productive way.
