Finding Your Anchor: What Brings You Back to the Present?
When the world feels overwhelming, we need Touchstones—objects or sensations that connect us to a state of ventral regulation and help us feel grounded.
In our practice, we use breath as an anchor. Outside of class, what are your reliable sources of calm? (E.g., Snuggling a pup, a familiar scent, a warm drink).
Remember: We are taking a break next week, but we will be back on Wednesday, December 3rd. Use your touchstones to recharge and stay grounded until then!
✨ Weekend Check-in: What is one Touchstone you will intentionally use this weekend?

Burnout & Your Body: Why You Can’t Rest and Digest.
When the body gets stuck in the stress state (Sympathetic/Fight or Flight), it automatically shuts down the body’s healing response. This loop of constant alert is why so many people struggling with anxiety, chronic pain, and stress also experience gut issues and insomnia. You simply cannot be in both states at the same time.

The Key: The Ventral Vagal State
The healing response is the Ventral Vagal branch of the Parasympathetic system—the place where you feel grounded, regulated, and connected. Our trauma-sensitive practice is designed to gently guide your system back to this state, helping you remember what safety feels like and fully engage with life.

FINAL CALL: Gentle & Slow Yoga Tonight at 6:30 PM.

Chronic illness is a form of trauma- dare I say, COMPLEX trauma. Trauma survivors need to be BELIEVED, and to feel seen and heard. If you have the urge to help a chronically ill person, these are some of the top ways you could do that. Sit with us in our suffering without trying to fix it. Thank you K.J. Ramsey for these words.

what I wrote instead of being a bad bi**ch when I saw someone reply to a precious woman’s story of courage surviving her very complicated, severe diseases with:

“Hey Kimberly, if possible sit outside and get full sun lights exposure as best as you can, even 20 or 30 mins. Full spectrum light is essential for overall health.

Peace and Blessings. ✨️🕊🙏🎊✨️”

—Peace and blessings, Paul. Your well-intended suggestions are patronizing AF.

Your Healing Is Your Birthright.
has become a significant resource for me as I plan out our weekly yoga classes. She has a way of soothing the soul with healing words. Take these gems with you through your weekend:
“My dear, you are a shiny, resilient gem who has learned to survive hard things. Now you are invited to thrive.
This sacred work will be worth it—because you are worth it; every single one of us is worthy.’
Learning to embrace our entire selves is not just a spiritual or mental endeavor—it’s also an incarnational one. This is what we were made for: “a living, breathing, moving, feeling, connected, embodied life. This is your birthright.”
It requires fierce compassion to hold the line when everything around us wants to remake us into that which we are not.

Where Are You Today? 🧠
Your nervous system is constantly moving between three states:

* Ventral (window of tolerance): The place of connection, safety, and regulation. Life feels manageable.
* Sympathetic (HYPER-arousal): The “fight or flight” stress pathway.
* Dorsal (HYPO-arousal): The state of shutdown, collapse, and disconnect.
When overwhelmed, we can move outside our window of tolerance (ventral) and into either Sympathetic or Dorsal. Our trauma-sensitive practice gently guides your system back to the Ventral State, and helps you expand your window of tolerance so you can feel grounded, ready to engage and learn skills that help you stay connected when stress comes your way.

FINAL CALL: Gentle & Slow Yoga Tonight at 6:30 PM.
    •    Deadline: We need your registration NOW! The class must hit the 3-person minimum by 6:00 PM for the class to be a GO.

You Are Not Weak. You Are Resilient.
It’s common to feel that if you are struggling, you must lack “character” or “toughness.” This is a lie imposed by toxic environments.
Trauma responses—like spiraling, anger, or even decision paralysis—are physical reactions that have zero to do with your character. You did not lack intelligence or strength; you lacked safety, support, and realistic tools.
We learn these shame reflexes honestly, but we can actively choose to resist them. Extending yourself grace isn’t making excuses—it’s acknowledging reality.
Healing is not a character challenge; it’s a physiological process.

✨ Your Self-Compassion Check ✨
What is one phrase you can use this weekend to counter a self-shaming thought (e.g., “This is just a reaction,” or “I am safe now”)? Share it in the comments below.
