six days ago, I signed up to run the fargo half marathon. being I didn't plan too far ahead for this race, I didn't taper my mileage and woke up with heavy legs. driving to fargo on 5 hours of sleep (thanks Jude!) was a little rough but I made it to the start line. somewhere between miles one and two, I forgot how to run and took a tumble. this wasn't a little spill, I was a freaking cannon ball rolling through runners. thankfully, I didn't knock anyone down and only my pride was severely injured. throughout the race, my hand kept bleeding and my ring finger swelled up. by the time I crossed the finish line, my ring was quite tight. I walked to exit the building and when I did, I looked down at my finger and realized if I didn't get my ring off quickly, I would have to cut it off. I found my way to the medics. as a runner, it is quite embarrassing entering the medic area with an injured finger. i felt a little better when the nurse tried to get my ring off and then called over a doctor for help. after trying a few different techniques, my ring was free! even with my tumble, fargo was a great race....the volunteers and spectators were amazing! thanks Fargo Marathon for another fun year!
