Resonate Massage Therapy RELIEVE pain & tensIon. RESTORE movement. RECOVER faster. Carri Bullock, MTPT, LMT, MEd

I specialize in a unique and highly effective approach to the relief of new and chronic muscle, soft tissue, joint, and nerve pain. Advanced training in Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy and Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) are integrated with manual therapy to help identify and treat the underlying cause of pain or muscle dysfunction. I work closely with each client, customizing treatment to relieve pain, improve movement, reduce stress and restore quality of life to get you out enjoying the activities you love. My favorite part of this process is teaching self-care techniques that put the power of becoming AND staying relaxed and pain-free into my clients’ hands. Having personal experience with the frustration of trying everything to relieve chronic pain, then discovering these therapies and getting immediate, permanent relief has made me passionate about helping others enjoy a pain-free, active life. A 20-second hug isn’t just “nice” — it’s a direct intervention on the gut-brain axis. Skin-to-skin contact triggers a surge of oxytocin (often called the “bonding hormone,” though it’s really a neuropeptide with powerful anti-inflammatory effects). Oxytocin tones the vagus nerve, drops cortisol, and shifts the nervous system into parasympathetic. That single physiological shift lowers systemic inflammation and improves gut barrier integrity within minutes. When the gut lining is less “leaky,” beneficial bacteria thrive, microbial diversity increases, and production of anti-inflammatory short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and serotonin precursors goes up. The microbiome, in turn, signals safety back to the brain via the vagus and immune pathways, creating a positive feedback loop that measurably reduces anxiety and improves mood resilience. Recent 2024–2025 reviews confirm this bidirectional oxytocin–microbiome relationship: more affectionate touch → higher oxytocin → richer, more resilient microbiome → lower markers of inflammation and anxiety.

In my functional medicine telehealth practice, where I’ve run labs on thousands of people telehealth patients worldwide for the last 15+ years, I see the same pattern over and over: chronic anxiety, IBS, autoimmunity, and dysbiosis almost always coexist with low oxytocin tone and reported loneliness or touch deprivation. So I will prescribe “oxytocin homework” — schedule three 20-second hugs a day (partner, kids, friends, even pets count), or self-hug/weighted blanket if touch is hard right now. I pair it with simple somatic tools (physiological sighs, body scans, breathwork) and, when labs show it’s needed, targeted probiotics or SCFAs or magnesium to support the microbiome side of the loop. Telehealth patients who actually do the hug prescription (I check on follow-ups!) consistently show drops in hs-CRP, improvements in stool diversity markers, and — most importantly — they tell me “I just feel safer in my own skin.” It’s free, zero side effects, and often more powerful than another supplement. Sometimes the most advanced medicine is the oldest one: human connection.

Some useful tips for managing cold intolerance… 🥶⬇️
Applying heat can be preventative to regulate body temperature, improve circulation, and helps keep your muscles loose and happy too!

Trigger point therapy self-care techniques and FSM microcurrent are also beneficial for improving circulation and other symptoms of dysautonomia & connective tissue disorders. 🎯💪
Stay warm and reach out if you’d like to learn more! 📞

As temperatures drop, many people with dysautonomia struggle with cold intolerance due to poor circulation caused by low blood volume or blood pooling. If you find yourself constantly freezing while others are comfortable, you're not alone!

Here are evidence-based strategies to help manage cold intolerance this season:

Systemic Warming (whole body):
Layer your clothing—think base layers, mid-layers, and outer layers
Always wear gloves and hats when going outside
Use heated blankets and heated mattress pads
Avoid rapid temperature changes (like going from outdoors into heavy AC)

Local Warming (for cold extremities):
Hand warmers in pockets or gloves
Multiple layers of socks
Warm compresses on hands and feet
Soak your hands or feet in warm water
Gentle rubbing to stimulate circulation

The most important rule? Listen to your body's temperature needs and adapt your environment accordingly. Don't push through the discomfort—address it with these practical tools.
Stay warm out there! 💙

🧡November is CRPS Awareness Month, with the first Monday being Color the World Orange Day. Orange represents the burning pain associated with this condition.

CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) is incredibly painful, presents with many different symptoms, and is often difficult to diagnose & treat.

CRPS awareness promotes improved research, funding, support, & education about this complex condition so those living with it can get help. 🧡

I love this story! 🎣🩵 This gentleman traveled 5 hours to see me for neuropathy, a possible symptom of Parkinson’s (a recent diagnosis).

He was in great shape, but using a walker because he didn’t want to fall. He said he couldn’t feel his feet touching the ground, like walking on 4 inches of styrofoam.

He could only come on the weekend, so I skipped my weekend hikes and set him up for two 90-min sessions, one on Saturday and then again on Sunday.

I did my usual combo of trigger point therapy & FSM, customized specifically for him based on his unique history & symptoms. Added a little DDS massage, which can also help with muscle and nerve issues. ⚡️

He marched out of my office carrying his walker above his head (I was mortified! 😆) and was excited to tell me about his fishing trip when I checked in with him 2 weeks later.

Fix WHY, not where means looking for and treating the underlying cause(s). Most of the time this is far from where you’re feeling the symptoms. Is it trigger point referral? Tissues stuck together by adhesions & scar tissue? Muscle imbalance?

Treat WHY.
THIS is what trigger point therapy & FSM do. They are outcome-based protocols.
