Thoughts?
I'm wrestling with this right now and trying to work something out to better understand my true perspective. Imagine that, thinking about something before I say it?
A work in progress. Thoughts about immigration and transgenderism.
The epitome of a civilized society is not the lack of violence, but the lack for the need of violence. That means that, despite the fact that tolerance weakens the knees, we must be empathetic to those around us without giving heed to the self. Only in times when desires are the main topic of conversation, as we become more civilized, we become more selflessly tolerant. Those we are tolerant towards perceive the tolerance, not as a social allowance, but as a victory. This is where the social decline starts. Not because they aren't justified in their anger, they are. Being systematically marginalized will do this to the self. No, but because they now feel entitled to the tolerance. They're not. It would be unsophisticated thinking to assume that giving reflexive empathy to those who have been hypothetically or unjustly victimized, is a moral virtue. It's not, it hurts them. Society must keep becoming more civilized though, too, the self needs to be more selfless. It's the act of being courteous and receptive to courtesy. We must erase the need for violence, and it is proper etiquette that will allow this to eventually happen. The progression has to be a natural one in order for it to become a social norm. When anyone decides to break the cycle that proper etiquette provides it creates a rift in mainstream society. It has to stop and defend itself. In its nature, this is violent, thus the cycle of violence seems to continue. Because we're stuck in this rift as a society, we've stopped moving forward. To really fix a problem you have to take it back all the way to the beginning. It just so happens that we no longer remember/ care about who started it. We just care about proving each other wrong, defending ourselves.
So you see, it's not that hard to deduce that society has reached its epitome without reaching its full] potential. We don't NEED diversity. Fir some reason though, we have to have it.
