Our Objective is to assist families that have unexpectedly found themselves in a situation where they are unable to buy gifts, most often as a result of a loss of work, medical issue or priority financial obligations. At this time we do not request any sort of proof of hardship, but have rely upon the honesty of the families seeking help. FATE does, and will continue to, coordinate with other orga
nizations to ensure that as many different families as possible are reached and helped during holidays. Those that receive gifts from FATE are purposefully selected based upon our review of the request. Registering with other organizations will reduce the likelihood of being selected by FATE. We reserve the right to remove anyone from our application and gifting selection. OUR BEGINNING:
In 2012 Doris and Brian were trying to find a charitable organization that would accept gently used toys and then would then give them to kids who could use them - sort of "recycle" the toys and give them a new life with new children. They couldn't find any organization that accepted used toys, just new ones. They could have donated them to places like Goodwill or Salvation Army, but they would turn around and sell them and they knew that there were families out there that couldn't afford to buy food and pay for utilities, let alone even second-hand toys. So, since they couldn't find an organization that would collect and distribute our gently used toys to families that need them, they decided to make their own - thus, FATE was born. Throughout the years, FATE grew and in the spring of 2021 Doris and Brian retired asking Dannielle Backus to continue their efforts to help the kids of Kent County. Thank you for your tireless efforts over the years to make sure families in need in Kent county can provide a Merry Christmas to their Children.
