Dr. Linda Davis the beloved Savannah special-ed teacher was killed when an ICE agent pursued a man through her neighborhood and into a school zone. The chase ended in a collision with her blocks from her school.

Chatham County officials have been clear: this was preventable. Their own no-chase policies exist precisely to protect civilians. Once again ICE agents are not making us safer and their behavior has resulted in the loss of someone's life.

I met Rev. Jesse Jackson when I was a little girl attending the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education with my parents. He was at the table next to ours having breakfast. When my Mom took me to meet him, he offered me his orange juice! 🤣 I’d always been excited anytime I’d go with my Dad to late night preaching and the late Rev. Clay Evans was to preach, but he’d let Rev. Jackson (his son in the ministry) preach in his place. One of my fondest memories is when my Dad took me to Rev. Jackson’s rally when he ran for president. It was electric! Rev. Jackson was living history as a Black man running for president. I’m grateful that my parents gave me opportunities to participate in my Black History and American History through my experiences with Rev. Jesse Jackson. Rev. Jackson is a Civil Rights icon who will be remembered as a freedom fighter. Take your rest, Sir. Take your rest. 🕊️✊🏿
