Many thanks to 23XI for the opportunity to partner with the team and help everyone be their best both on and off the track.

From 23XI, “As Men’s Health Month comes to a close, we’re proud to partner with to spotlight the importance of prioritizing mental well-being.

At 23XI, our team is fueled by strength, focus, and drive both on and off the track. Behind every high-performance role is a person with pressures, responsibilities, and the need for care. That’s why we invited our resident Sports Psychologist, Eddie O’Connor, PhD, CMPC, to lead a powerful Lunch & Learn titled “Overcoming the Barriers to Self-Care.”

In this interactive session, Dr. O’Connor explored five key barriers that often prevent men from investing in their own well-being. He offered practical strategies to move past each one. Every attendee walked away with a personal commitment to self-care, designed to support their health and enhance their performance in the areas that matter most.”

Process-Based Therapy (PBT; Hofmann, Hayes & Lorscheid, 2021) focuses on targeting underlying psychological processes rather than specific diagnoses or symptoms. It is defined as the contextually specific use of evidence-based processes linked to evidence-based procedures to help clients improve in directions most meaningful to them. PBT tailors interventions to meet a person's specific needs at a given point in time, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. This workshop will introduce attendees to the PBT approach including the foundational science of the extended evolutionary meta-model and training in the network model for case conceptualization. No clinical training of attendees is required or assumed. How Process-Based Therapy can be used to guide one’s personal sport psychology practice will be emphasized. Attendees will leave with practical skills they can begin using with their clients immediately.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰? Because over the years I have been frustrated trying to fit diverse athletes into standard protocols that ignored their individual needs and presentations. PBT has increased my flexibility with clients and I want to share this process with you.

Check out the slides for a sneak peek and I'll see you Saturday!

Many thanks to Queens University of Charlotte for honoring our Mental Performance Team on Friday night. AD Cherie Swarthout presented Dr Patrick Young, CMPC and I with game balls on Atrium Night. It is truly an honor to serve the student-athletes and coaches at Queens. I appreciate how they have embraced me in the short time I’ve been here.

Compartmentalizing your life isn’t about ignoring your problems or pretending they don’t exist.
