Say hello to Aiyana, the owner of . She built the business with care, intention, and a strong connection to the community. We spoke with Aiyana about her journey and what being a business means to her:
"We are a business born out of empathy. We are picky with purpose, serving with intention. Our mission is simple: help our neighbors. So many people struggle to put food on their table for a number of reasons, and not all of those reasons fit different outreach programs guidelines. We feel it is incredibly important to meet people where they are at, no shame and no questions. We do not require an application or an explanation for this reason; It does not matter to us why you are hungry. Our focus area is Creston Neighborhood (we will even deliver meals in this area), but anyone can reach out and pick up a meal even if they are outside of creston neighborhood. Our goal is to make 40-60 meals every week to share for free with our neighbors.
How does Picky work?
1. Follow Picky on social media for updates on free meals.
2. Message Picky on Facebook or Instagram to request meals.
3. Collect food on Sunday
There are 2 big ways people can help us right now; donating financially via venmo (), or sharing our posts on social media to help reach people that would benefit from our services. We also accept non-perishable donations (canned vegetables, rice, beans, dish soap, take out boxes, gloves, etc). Picky is entirely donation driven and volunteer run. There is no profit in this, so every donation makes a big difference for us to be able to buy food to cook with.
Since week 1 in November, Picky has been able to prepare and serve 506 meals!"
