Boogy had her Lumbar puncture today. Her numbers have tanked to 540, she was 3050 in tge ER on Sunday. They figured its probably from whatever caused her fever on Sunday. The allergies bugging her could be contributing too. She will have labs next week to check if we need to do a chemo hold since she was barely above the minimum today. In the meantime, she'll have steroids and insulin all week. So we're on the routine of checking insulin every three hours 😴 I'm excited that they'll let her try a Dexcom, it is attached to her arm and at least if her numbers are ok at midnight and 3am, I won't have to wake her up for insulin🤞

We attempted a small family trip this week. Derek was in a wedding on Saturday in Laguna Beach, so we figured we'd stay a couple extra days and try to do a few fun things. It unfortunately didn't go as we'd hoped BUT we did get to go to and thanks to the passport gives to all the kids who visit. That was a really neat treat.

Unfortunately Boogy and I had to visit the Emergency Room in the middle of the night while there. Luckily, they have an amazing children's hospital. If you're ever in the San Diego area, is top notch! They got her in immediately, even with a line out the door, which we felt terrible jumping past. They isolated us very quickly due to Boogy having a high temperature. They got in touch with our team immediately and once again, the entire staff absolutely adored Boogy. She told them all about Pedro her Port and all about her doctors, nurses and child life specialists. She chatted about the zoo and they gave us all kinds of fun tips for visiting there. They told her how incredibly brave she is and she told them she has friends in clinic that are more brave than her.

We're grateful we got to knock some things off our bucket lists and see some new areas. Plus get to add to our list of hospitals we've visited, Boogy and I have decided we could start a review page for hospitals at this point 😂

When a child is seriously ill, the focus is rightly on saving that child’s life. But behind every hospital bed is a brother or sister or both, whose world has changed too.

They watch their parents disappear into hospital corridors. They feel the worry in the house. They miss the normal life they once knew. Their life becomes full of sacrifice.

Often they try to be brave, and understanding, because they know their parents are carrying so much. But siblings carry the weight as well. They are often the “forgotten children”

Our children have certainly been forced to take on too much in their young lives. They do it for their sister that they love so much and I know they'd choose to over and over again.

Boogy had her endocrinology appointment today and labs. She didn't make counts again to restart chemo, but they're hoping by next week that she does.

has made it easy to learn on the go! Although I wish we were vacationing instead of driving to and from hospitals and spending hours at appointments. I'm thankful we can implement the full curriculum during all our time away from home. Being able to download the PDF's right to her tablet is so helpful to aid in comprehension of each lesson.

Boogy had an appointment today to check how she's doing after her hospital stay. She's doing great and they're happy with how well she's bounced back! Her labs are still down, so she's still on a chemo hold. We'll recheck next week when she goes for her check up with her endocrinologist.

Since she has had a previous chemo hold in this phase, she has a little bit higher threshold to hit. Her neutrophil # must be 750 and platelets 75. Today her neutrophil # was 480, her platelets are for once at the number of a normal person, at 280! Her hemoglobin is still hanging low in the 9's, which is a great reminder to tell you to not forget the blood drive Friday! All this to say, shes in the clear from RSV now, but still extremely susceptible to infections. She's neutropenic right now but she's feeling great regardless! Once she does make it to the minimum, she will actually be started at 50% dose. She was previously on 100%. They will slowly raise it over a few months until she is at 100% again.

I took zero pics today, so here's one from the other day getting spoiled by one of her favs 🧡

Don't forget to save your spot for the blood drive!!

This new flower bowl has a very special name. 🌸

We made it for a little girl named Visalia who loves creating candles and dreaming up beautiful things. Her creativity, her wicked sense of humor, and her bright spirit inspire us every day!!

So this flower bowl will forever carry her name.
Visalia’s Flower. 🌸

Visalia is also bravely fighting childhood cancer. If you feel called to support her journey or cheer on the candles she creates, you can follow her family’s page here: Team Boogy - Fighting B-cell ALL 🧡💜

We got to bust out of the joint!! We can't thank everyone enough for all the love, prayers, help, meals, everything!!! We are so appreciative!! We'll keep Boogy at home for awhile longer, since she's neutropenic and susceptible to infections and we want to make sure we're no longer contagious. Hopefully she can continue to get better and we don't have anymore fevers!
