I stopped saying “drowsy but awake” with my families. Now I say drowsy but calm, and it changes everything.
Here’s why:
Too asleep: baby expects to rouse in the same place they fell asleep in leading to more full wake ups.
Too awake: we have not helped our little one calm enough to find sleep easier.
If sleep is working for you, carry on. But if it is not and you are unsure how to move forward, that is so understandable. Sleep involves your milk supply, your baby’s development, your attachment, your schedule. It is a puzzle with a thousand pieces, and I am here to help you piece it together.
