We provide financial, moral, and step by step planned support through private donors, crowd funding, Sunshine boxes, & resource acquisition. Tape for Scrapes and Boxes of Sunshine are inspired by personal events since 2005-2013. From that accident, I broke my neck at the c5 and crushed the c6. This left me with a fusion from c5-T1 (the first vertebrae in my back) and constant pain. I was also left
wearing a halo brace to recover in, which is actually screwed into your head. Things progressed, I recovered well enough to go back to work and live a somewhat normal life around my injury. I was married in '07, and things on all accounts were great. In 2013, everything changed. I was on my way to visit my sister just two hours away for a few days with my 6wk old. A driver fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into. My son was ok, however I was very injured. Among the injuries, I sustained a broken neck again, at the c2/c3, arm, hip, pelvis and femur. After two week in the hospital, several surgeries, and yet another halo I was sent home. I wasn't able to see my baby until day 11 of the stay. That was the worse of all! Word of the accident spread very quickly and so many people, many of whom I didn't know started helping me right away! It is from all the kindness I've seen the past few years that I feel inspired to start this outreach to people. When you are suddenly hurt, your whole life changes in a second. Many people are embarrassed by equipment they might be left with using, such as a walker, wheelchair, crutches, halo, or other medical devices, Many of theses can be personalized, giving you a sense of style and adding your own flare. The most popular and safest way is duct tape. Every service we offer of 100% free of charge, even sending the Boxes of Sunshine! To donate items for events or items, just contact me at my email, jlhellige@hotmail.com, private message me here, or call me at 314-732-5692.
