What can you do to help?

• Learn these 5 steps for su***de prevention. https://www.bethe1to.com/

• Get trained. The Question, Persuade, Refer training is a 1.5-hour course geared toward individuals who have had limited training or information about su***de prevention, are looking for a starting point to understand their role in preventing su***de and feel empowered with the skills and tools to help. email: afranklin@optionsonline.org for info on the next virtual or in-person trainings in Southern Oregon

• Attend an “Out of Darkness” walk in your local area to raise funds and awareness. Medford's walk is on Sept .17th at Pear Blossom Park.

• Get involved in the work of su***de prevention in your area. Learn about local efforts on the Oregon Alliance website. https://oregonalliancetopreventsu***de.org and if you are interested in joining the Josephine County Su***de Prevention Coalition, email: afranklin@optionsonline.org

• Be informed about the new national crisis line 988. Like 911, we have a new su***de prevention and mental health crisis number that is easy to remember and use, just dial 9 8 8 and be connected to a trained mental health professional who can support you and/or connect you with our local crisis response team, if needed. https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/988
