This way of coloring Easter eggs comes from my Grandmother Lydia's recipe and my mom Ruthie. Now it continues with me.

Take the next few weeks to get dried onion skins including red onion skins that really show the colors. Have either nylon stocking (from the past) cut them into squares that will cover the raw eggs. Here I wrapped these in an old tee shirt squares and use strong twine or sewing thread and tie.

Then put them in a large pot with water and the left over food colorings. Cook for 10 minutes and let stand to cool. Unwrap and rince off and use vegetable oil to make them shine.
I love them because they look like natural marble stone.
