A small explanation of Tai chi
Tai Chi, or Tai Chi Chuan, is a Chinese martial art with roots in ancient Taoist philosophy. While it was originally developed for self-defense, it has evolved into a popular form of low-impact exercise and is often considered ‘moving meditation.’ Tai Chi's movements are characterized by their slow, deliberate, and flowing nature, emphasizing relaxation and proper body alignment.
The Taoist philosophy within Tai Chi is balance and natural movement, Yin and Yang. The practice centers on the cultivation of "qi" (or "chi"), the vital energy believed to flow through the body. Practitioners learn to guide and circulate this energy, which is thought to improve overall health and vitality. This internal focus is what distinguishes Tai Chi from many external martial arts.
